Summary
Lily and Laurence had it all: the money, the car, a beautiful home in the Buckinghamshire countryside. Then Laurence loses his job, and everything disappears. With nowhere to turn, Lily and Laurence are forced to take their two young children and move to a flea-ridden council house on a notoriously rough estate. As they try to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, Lily constantly dreams of returning to her old luxurious life. Will her dream come true, or will she learn that money doesn't always buy happiness?

Loved this story a riches to rags and happiness story, I loved it as well as the story being wonderful it was read beautifully x

Loved it!
Great book for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Easy listen, good narration, nice story if somewhat frustrating. Surely this couldn’t actually happen. Locked out with no access to your personal items etc!

Only half way through! .....
... But totally addicted!! This is one excellent book, I can't wait for MY time when I can get back into this brilliant story, LOVING IT. A fab listen can't rate highly enough! ❤️❤️❤️

Excellent book, wrong Narrator
The narrative did not fit in with the characters, having read this book I was expecting the tone to be different. I was distracted by the narrator rather than lost in the book.

An extremely good book.
I've not enough a book as much for a really long time. There are true to life events and feelings which warm the soul and some which are tinted with too much positivity and the slight stereotyping of some characters. The authors perogative of this doesn't bother me though as there is enough true to life writing to keep it plausible and enjoyable and humorous.
The idea behind it though is a strong message and true to life. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and plot through extremely good narration. I would really enjoy revisiting them later on to catch up with them.
I have thought about the issues in this book and the characters and the issues raised.Well worth a read.

This is a great story
I have read this book when it came out and a few times more, this is my favourite Carole Matthews book, and now I can listen to it so even better. Must read if your Carole Matthews, fan x
