Publisher's Summary

Never in a million years would I have pictured myself as an axe-wielding, dragon lady, chopping up multi-colored flannel shirts into my very own plaid mulch. But here I am, chopping away my frustrations.

It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago. What is supposed to be a fun family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day-old beard clippings. Paul's know-it-all attitude and Porter's devilish charm brings me to the brink of my sanity on my seven-day trek across the United States with three bearded men in a small 1980s RV.

    "Laugh out Loud FUNNY!!"
Would you listen to The Mother Road again? Why?

    Yes...It was funny and entertaining.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Porter, Marley's brother. The way he would fight with his sister or just give her a hard time was enjoyable.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Marley almost drank the pee bottles that Porter and his father filled on the way to get Marley.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was laughing so hard while listening to it at work they think I am going nuts.

    "So funny, but so touching!"
Where does The Mother Road rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably somewhere in the middle- it was a very enjoyable listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mother Road?

I loved the scenes with Porter reminiscing about momma McMann and how wonderful she was to him- I teared up every time.
And when the Bern man would "curse"...so much fun!

What about Greyson Ash and J.F. Harding ’s performance did you like?

J.F. brought a lot of emotion to his performance, it was great. And I liked that Greyson sounded very age appropriate. Her performance was a little awkward at times, there were some pauses between words that threw me off a little, but other than that they both did a terrific job,

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

So many laugh out loud moments! I listened to this on my commute to and from work and I know I had to be getting some looks when I was cracking up!
And times I would be tearing up, and especially at the end I was flat out crying! I listened to the last couple of chapters at home, luckily, because they really did me in.

    Any additional comments?

I know this story is a little over the top with some of the humor, but it truly is a really wonderful look at family and friendships. I loved it.

    "Couldn't finish!"

This book is so bad I couldn't finish listening. The sexual innuendos and references are so bad that they are distracting from the story. It may be a decent story but I just couldn't take it any longer. I had to turn it off. I would NOT recommend this book.

If you could sum up The Mother Road in three words, what would they be?

    Planning my trip!

What other book might you compare The Mother Road to and why?

I have not read, or listened to another book that could compare to what Meghan did in this story. If there is one out there, I haven't met it yet.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I could not believe all the things that Marley had to endure, I can't pick one because collectively they all have to be there for this story to be so gut wrenchingly funny

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed until I cried. There were times where they were discussing family and the past, the reason for this Mother Road Trip that had me in tears. All worth it

    "Hilarious perfection"

This book is laugh out loud funny. The narrators are fantastic and the story is told perfectly. It has a great mix of love, sibling pranks, snarky language, odd ball side characters, hot sex and hilarious dialogue. A great listen.

    Story
    "Super Funny"

The Mother Road is a super funny, second chance RomCom. I was definitely laughing my butt off when I started this book.

Marley's brother and Dad plan a nostalgic family road trip, the one her Mom had always wanted them to go on before she had lost her battle with cancer. But they failed to inform Marley that there was another guest taking the trip with them.

"My love for Marley is strong enough for me to let her go; too bad my heart is still battered and bruised from the first time I said goodbye."

This was a cute story, if a bit predictable. Heavy on the potty humor and d*ck jokes. Just the thing if you are looking for a laugh out loud second chance romance with some lovable characters.

"Porter winks at me and kicks his feet up on the bench across from my seat. I want to kick the arrogance right off his face with a snaggle foot…right after I lick his entire body and pee around him so everyone knows he’s mine."

    My rating 3.5 stars

    Story
    "A Mixed Review"

I have very mixed feelings about this book. The idea of taking a family trip along Route 66 to honor the wishes of their deceased mother is touching and sweet. The games they played along the way and the dad's habit of swearing with presidents' names was genuinely heart-warming and funny. But the constant bathroom humor was tiresome and over the top. And all four adults constantly sounding like 12 year old boys? I just can't believe people talk like that. It was too much.

The male narrator did an amazing job -- especially with the dad's voice. The female narrator was adequate but her rhythm was off on occasion.

"This is The Mother Road of all Laughs & 2 Chances"

Omg this is such an amazingly Lmafo story. Right from the get go this book will have you on the floor laughing so hard. I was in tears because I was laughing so hard and of course i was at work and I got strange looks and people asking if I was ok and when I finally caught my breath and could talk I told them it was the book I was listening to. I loved all the characters from Marley, Porter, Bernie & Paul! Paul and Marley's relationship reminds me of me and my brothers relationship. Marley and Porters 2nd chance romance was very sweet and grew at the right speed. I love Meghan Quinn's style of writing. This journey keeps you laughing and still has the moments of swooningly and some tears was shed as well but for the most part I laughed the whole way threw. I could not stop and did not want the book to end. This definitely is a 10 Star read. 5 stars is a joke when it comes to this book. I will most definitely be re-reading/listing to this book again. It lifted me up and brought me out of my book funk I had been in for awhile. This is one of my top 5 reads of 2017 and Im sure it will be in my top 5 for many years to come. Thank you for an amazing book and Journey Meghan Quinn! I really want to take this road trip in real life one day until then I will just continue to listen to this book over and over lol
