Summary

On moving to Brighton, Georgie finds throwing herself into the city's delights fun and exciting, but before she knows it, she's sliding into all kinds of trouble. Charlotte is in the city for a new start, hoping to keep her head down. A terrible revelation sent Rosa running from London, but could her passion for food lead her to more interesting places? As the three tenants find each other, it's as if a whole new chapter of their lives has begun.

Good book - poor northern narration

I generally love Lucy diamond books but the narration of this made me stop listening repeatedly - generally it was ok but when the narrator kept using her 'Yorkshire' accent it drove me crazy. I usually finish them quite quickly but not this time - just purely down to irritation. The story is a lovely though.

This author's skills just get better.

I've always quite liked L D 's books; but this 1 is quite superior on several levels. Good, in depth, character development, until I the reader really felt I knew how each of the protagonists minds worked. Good insight into human nature. Plot was interesting, funny, sad; the lot. A good read indeed. Not Nobel Prize- winning literature- just vey interesting & enjoyable, with food for thought.

Brighton in all it's glory with a wonderful story

Lucy Diamond has triumphed here and perfectly captured the vibe of Brighton. This story is both engaging and thought provoking. Going into too much detail about the characters would be somewhat of a ‘spoiler’ however this book is most certainly worth a credit or indeed bought as a paid purchase. I loved this book and only wish that Lucy would write a follow up as I would be very interested in finding out how the main characters progressed and what happened if new tenants moved into ‘The House Of New Beginnings’.

Not for me

I thought this would be a book I would like after reading some of the reviews - sadly not for me - bits if it were good - but mostly predictable and a bit boring - yelled “get on with the story “ on several occasions

Loved it

Really enjoyed all the different characters in this book, easy to keep up with them all. Would love a sequel to see how they are all doing.

Another cosy listen from Lucy Diamond

Lucy Diamond books are always a nice, easy listen with varied, well developed characters and plot twists. The House of New Beginnings is no different and as the title suggests, it follows a group of individuals, each struggling on their various paths and looking for a new start.
The only thing that let this book down for me was the narration. When speaking in her own accent the narrator was very pleasant to listen to, however her regional accents made me cringe, particularly her Yorkshire accents - she made them all sound simple. And the male voices all had a hint of innuendo in them even when having the most banal, innocent conversations.
Narration aside, I would recommend.

You just never know when your luck will change

Quite a good and enjoyable story line told with amusing dialect voices for the characters. Nothing heart stopping happens, however the story is interesting, the dialogue good and the reading excellent and overall very much worth the listen .

A bit depressing

It was an interesting story and had some great points but it seemed to rabble on a bit in a rather depressing manner
