Interesting Family Saga

An interesting story that winds its way across 100 years as 2 families intertwine. There are bits of Downton Abbey- style intirigues with upstairs and downstairs and a strong period feel and some lovely Irish sequences that go a bit too close to cliche. The ending was long in coming and slightly annoying but the book is well narrated and a pleasantly rewarding listen

Enthralling

Having read and enjoyed books by this author previously, I was not disappointed by this book either! It switched from past to present in a very easy way and I was filled with anticipation throughout. I would recommend this book.

A feel good story

What made the experience of listening to The Girl on the Cliff the most enjoyable?

The characters were so believable the narrator did a wonderful job giving the characters individual voices. I enjoyed trying to work out how everyone was connected but then was surprised when it wasn't as i expected. The story weaves in and out of time without any wooden moments.

What other book might you compare The Girl on the Cliff to, and why?

I don't normally listen to this genre of book so i really cannot make a comparison.

What about Gerri Halligan’s performance did you like?

She made the characters so real that i almost felt i knew them and it was a story that i found hard to turn off and leave. She read this book well and i enjoyed listening to it. I might even be persuaded to look for her story ready skills again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did so want to but i couldn't i guess if i had had the time i probably would have.

family history

Would you listen to The Girl on the Cliff again? Why?

no because would know the surprise ending.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

there are many sad parts in this story.

Any additional comments?

tried three time to listen to this story and decided to listen to something else. came back to it and thought it was a well written book with good characterisation. set mainly in Ireland and bits in America it moved quickly from present to past and back again.gerri haligan performed the book very well bringing the characters to life.I enjoyed it and will try more written by Lucinda riley

Another Superb Story from Lucinda Riley

Where does The Girl on the Cliff rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Definitely way up in my top five.....most of which I have to admit are all Lucinda Riley stories. I love the way she writes and have thoroughly enjoyed every book of hers that I have listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

The unexpectedness (is that even a word!) of everything....excellently written

What about Gerri Halligan’s performance did you like?

I love Gerri Halligan as a story teller as she gives such excellent performances. This is another one.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both, but mainly cry as there were several very emotional scenes.

Any additional comments?

I just love Lucinda Riley's books and have listened to every one that is in the Audible library...can't wait for her to release another.

Unsatisfactory narration

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who doesn't object to appalling attempts at accents.

What was most disappointing about Lucinda Riley’s story?

I didn't get far enough to judge the story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Gerri Halligan’s performances?

Not if she attempts accents. She reads well but should just read - not try to mimic.

What character would you cut from The Girl on the Cliff?

Can't say as haven't got very far.

Boza!

The only adequate comparison of this slop is with the Bulgarian boza - mawkish and excessively sweet! Consumption longer than half an hour leads to the urgent need to vomit!

Hated it, sentimental predictable drivel, didn't both with most of it skipped through as story line so obvious don't waste your money/credit wish I hadnt

No

Would you be willing to try another one of Gerri Halligan’s performances?

Yes

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

"Enchanting"

Would you consider the audio edition of The Girl on the Cliff to be better than the print version?

I wouldn't know as I have never read the book, I prefer audible books anyway

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Girl on the Cliff?

I couldn't say really it held to my attention threw out, with all it's twists and turns

What does Gerri Halligan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

She brings all the characters to life for me, it was so interesting I couldn't put it down

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wish I could have done but unfortunately that would have not been possible
