Publisher's Summary

One old farmhouse brought them together. It could also tear them apart.

Gigi has just uprooted her whole world to start a new life. The unexpected gift of a farmhouse in small-town Montana is just what she and her daughter need to escape big-city loneliness. The last thing she needs is attitude from the town's sheriff, the most perfectly attractive and ruggedly handsome man she's ever laid eyes on - and a complete jerk.

Jess knows all about women like Gigi. Beautiful. Sexy. Scheming. She's stolen his sanctuary, the farmhouse that should have been his. But along with a face full of freckles, she's got a sharp wit and a backbone of steel - something he doesn't discover until after making a complete fool of himself. If he can earn back her trust and win her heart, he might just find the home he's always needed.

    "Gave up half way through"

The hero and heroine are not likeable. If the hero spoke to me and treated me like he does the heroine he would have been out on his ear and never invited back.

"A great listen and I am eager for more"

I admit I have been curious about Devney Perry’s books for some time, especially since her books were being touted as very Kristen Ashley-like. From my perspective, such comparisons can be a double-edged sword for new authors. Do I read it and become disillusioned that the book missed the mark? Or, do I stay away and potentially miss out on a good book?

Well, I was undecided and stayed away until I listened to an audio version of this book that I won via the author’s Facebook page. And now I am kicking myself. Yes, there are a few surface similarities to some of Kristen Ashley’s characters/settings, but The Coppersmith Farmhouse, the author’s debut novel I believe, is more than strong enough to stand on its own.

Georgia, known as Gigi, along with her young daughter, Rowan, is leaving her old life behind and heading to a small town to live in a house she inherited from Ben, a good friend. I enjoyed learning about the town and it was rewarding to listen to a character who was, dare I say it, normal. Gigi was a nurse. She has her head screwed on straight, is a thoughtful and caring person to those around her and is a good mother. There is pleasure in listening about the every day.

Jess, our hero, and the local Sheriff, is a man who keeps himself to himself. His initial dislike of Gigi is based on his erroneous belief that she fleeced Ben of his worldly goods. He makes no bones about showing his dislike of Gigi when they first meet. Once the misunderstanding is resolved, Jess turns on the alpha personality in his attempt to woo Gigi. Yes, there are some bumps along the way but both Gigi and Jess do a good job of communicating with each other to resolve them.

There is a mystery that forms part of the storyline. I am hopeless at guessing who the villains are, so I went along for the ride. I enjoyed this element of the story and it was a surprise to me who the ‘bad guys’ were.

The book contains an epilogue several years in the future. I do enjoy these because I like to read about our main characters living their happily ever after.

The Coppersmith Farmhouse is Book 1 of the Jamison Valley series. As far as I can tell, all books are standalones but some characters make appearances in other books. Don’t forget, it’s a small town.

    ***
I listened to an audio version of this book that was narrated by Ava Erickson and Joe Arden. I enjoyed listening to both narrators, although the majority of the book is narrated by Ava Erickson. Both narrators did a good job in conveying the character’s emotions. The voice of Gigi’s daughter, Rowan was an absolute delight to listen to.

I read another review that stated there was a lot of background noise during the recording. I heard none of this, so I assume it’s been cleaned up since that time.

    "Very sweet story"

This is a very easy listen , mother and daughter move to new town where she meets the sheriff who quickly tries to take her over ... the subsequent tiffs between her and the sheriff mad me smile , didn't catch on to the little twist at all ...no spoilers , if you want an uncomplicated sweet listen then I recommend as its narrators are top draw for me .
I was lucky enough to win this from the author in a give away , Thankyou and I Will definitely be looking out for further books in the series

    "Disappointing hero"

I did not gel with this book on the whole in any shape or form. I wanted to like it, indeed until 25% I held hope that my issues would be worked through. By 50% I realised that this was a hero that I could only hate, he could not be redeemed in my eyes in any way. He was manipulative, cunning, controlling, had temper issues that were scary and I didnt believe his connection with the heroine. The heroine gave off vibes of not being okay with his controlling ways but was always won over by a kiss or a weak willed apology....till the next time, stupid woman.

The narration was reasonably good, I enjoyed the tonation of the female narrator but I was less enamoured by the male narrator.

On the whole, I’m thinking this authors books aren’t for me. I may give another a try, unless I hear all her hero’s are such jerks.

    "4 The Coppersmith Farmhouse Stars"

Ahhh I love a small town romance, Gigi is a woman I can stand behind. She is strong of will and of heart; she makes me proud to be a woman. Yep I said that, not only does she have to deal with a lot in her past but she does it with grace and that is rare.

Jess well he “tried” to be a jerk and he just couldn’t pull it off; I never got the jerky vibe from him even when he was being one. I am glad Gigi finally put him in his place. She laid it out; this is not how you can treat me.

Her daughter Row is the cuties, I love when kids are added into stories it livens it up a little. I enjoyed getting to know some of the secondary characters and I am looking forward to maybe some of these characters in books to come.

I really loved Ava’s narration; she is a narrator I look forward to listening to because she puts emotion into her voice. She draws us in and makes us feel a part of the story. And Joe… well just listen to his voice enough said.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

    "Very sweet story. Great narration"

This is my first story from this author and am happy I gave it a shot. I felt the writing was very sweet, straight forward and evocative. I very much enjoyed how the growth between the characters occured and how the relationship and chemistry took place. The narration was spectacular as always. Eva Erickson conveyed so much emotion, an even though the chapters Joe Arden narrated were minimal, they were still great to listen to. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

    "Exciting western romance! "

This is the first book by this author I’ve listened to and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The heroine is a nurse who befriends a gruff older man in Spokane, WA. She’s a single mom and when he dies he leaves her a house in Montana, which she never knew about. Packing up her daughter and heading out to start a new life is exciting for her. Soon after she arrives she meets the local sheriff and they clash sparks off each other from the start. Eventually, she finds out who he was to her old friend and he starts to see her in a different light too. Before long, they’ve started a romance, but there’s danger in the area from a drug ring that threatens their life together. The narration of the audiobook was well done.

I’ve read this book and loved it. I don’t always have time to re-read my favorites. When I feel the need to reconnect, I buy the audiobook. Just as good as I remembered.

Narration was perfect. I’ve read other books by both and they always do a wonderful job.

    "small town love and suspense"

I enjoyed this small town love story with second chance at HEA for both Gigi and Jess. Although Jess came across as an arrogant know-it-all, I had a feeling he is not really showing his all. As the story progressed more was revealed and I was falling in love with him. Although a few times I could have smacked him for his arrogance LOL Loved the nicknames he gave 'his girls'
Gigi is sweet, seems a bit weak at times, but shows spunk too and I am glad she found her HEA with Jess. Her ex was a douche and I say good riddance.
There was an element of suspense and some action towards the end when things come to light pertaining to the recent crime wave in the small town.
It was mostly narrated by Ms. Erickson who is a new voice for me, her voice was great, I especially loved her voices for Gigi and her daughter, good variation for the other female characters. Joe Arden is one of my faves and loved his voices as usual. Looking forward to the next one I hope they will narrate it.

    "Awesome Narration - Incredible Story!"

Audible Review: Narrated by Ava Erickson and Joe Arden

I absolutely loved the narration of this book! The voices were so clear and precise. I’m relatively new to audiobooks so it’s taking some time for my ear to adjust to listening. I had no trouble at all with this duo. Ava’s voice was just perfect for the character and Joe’s voice was mesmerizing. I will definitely be looking for more from these narrators!

    Story review:

First, let me say that this book was an accident. I didn’t intend to purchase it but while checking it out I inadvertently one clicked. That has NEVER happened to me before. Best. Mistake. Ever!

What an awesome read! If you’ve heard that this book has a Kristen Ashley feel to it that would be true. But in my opinion, it was so much better! Yep, you read that right. It was so fast paced and never once did it get bogged down. Rich with characters that you can actually imagine having met and the wonderful feel of a small town atmosphere; it was simply delightful. (I always wanted to put “simply delightful” in a review.)

Gigi and her daughter are starting over and they use the gift of a farmhouse in Montana to do that. Jess, the county sheriff, is rude and a downright grade A a-hole from the moment they meet. There’s a reason she considers him Jess the Jackass. If the name fits…

Jess may be a jackass, but he isn’t stupid and once the misunderstandings in his mind are cleared up he decides he’s going to make Gigi forgive him for his previous bad behaviors. She’s not completely on board with this idea. It doesn’t matter because Jess is determined that he will be claiming her as his own.

What follows is a fun, steamy read with plenty of suspense and mystery as well as a high cuteness factor due to Rowen, Gigi’s four your old daughter, and lots of alpha goodness. I don’t think I closed my kindle one time while reading this. If I had any complaint it was that the heroine has a bit of an inferiority complex and struggles to accept that the hero’s feelings are true.

I rarely, if ever, one click to purchase the next book in a series when the author is new to me. I didn’t even hesitate. And this time it was on purpose.
