Summary

Barrytown, Dublin, has something to sing about. The Commitments are spreading the gospel of the soul. Ably managed by Jimmy Rabitte, brilliantly coached by Joel "The Lips" Fagan, their twin assault on Motown and Barrytown takes them by leaps and bounds from paris hall to immortality on vinyl. But can The Commitments live up to their name?

''The Commitments'' by Roddy Doyle

I first read this FANTASTIC very funny book and i read and re-read it. It's the first book in what's called 'The Barrytown Trilogy'
and its through this book that you will meet Jimmy Rabitte who loves music especially 'Soul' he gets a few friends and starts a band. You need to get this book and trust me you will enjoy it.
The Dublin characters are so funny.
And now 'The Barrytown Trilogy' is out in audio cd form. FANTASTIC!!
If you want a smile put back on your face you will get it through these awesome books.
ENJOY

absolutely brilliant!

the story is a classic. as short as it is it has a great plot, great characters and a brilliant story line. Aidan's reading/singing is genius and the accents were nailed. my only criticism is the sound quality is just a shade fuzzy but Aidan's performance more than makes up for this.
