Summary
Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.
Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he's imperious, unfriendly, and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant", Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity. Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue and romance - in the form of her very own stray vampire.

Oh what lives they have!
This is the second book in the series I've read and I'm definitely hooked. Iris is the main female in the book, with her sister GG a close second. The male lead is Cal, a very, very old vampire, who, according to Iris is very hot. I recommend this book to pretty much anyone as it's an around good book.

Molly Harper does it again
Loved, loved , loved this book. Molly Harpers books hit the perfect note in me. There is romance without all that over thye top slushey stuff and copious amounts of laugh out loud moments written beautifully and delivered to perfection by Amanda Ronconi.
I have read everything thing Molly has written and loved them all

Points for hottie bad guy!
I was pleasantly surprised with Molly Harper's latest, The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires.
I've read all her work (and I love Amanda Ronconi as her narrator) but generally felt that all her main characters across different books were largely the same. I had expected this book to be the same as the last one, Driving Mr Dead, since the premise is very similar, and was delighted to see that it was not only different, but also much more substantial, with well thought-out and fleshed out characters.
As per usual, the main point of the book is humour and romance, and the plot isn't that thrilling if you're not into botany but mostly serves as a mechanism to facilitate trials and opportunities for the romance to develop. At times the humour seems like an unrealistic reaction and detracts from a sense of peril, but since I don't think this is a genre of books which is supposed to be taken very seriously, it didn't ruin my experience.
The story progresses at a good pace and kept me interested all the way through.
The highpoint of the book for me was the sexy-evil-bad-guy scenes, even though I'm probably not supposed to cheer for him.

Each book is more enjoyable in the Half Moon Hollow
I’ve read/listened to most of Molly Harper’s books & they are so enjoyable to read, I’d be hard pressed so say which character/storyline I enjoy most! I love the Crescent Valley books too. Even my husband is happy listening long as he chills out in the evening as I craft along & Amanda Ronconi’s voice us a goid match as she emulates the characters too

Great book by Molly Harper. Never disappointed by this author.
Narrator and good story. Listened to this book in one go. Molly Harper has created her usual laughs and tense moments.

Funny, great story and excellent narrator!
Would you listen to The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires again? Why?
Yes, I would be happy to listen to this book again in future.
What did you like best about this story?
I have listened to all of the Jane Jameson books and I really enjoy Half Moon Hollow and it's supernatural population so was keen to learn more about some other residents of the Hollow. As always the female characters were strong, independent and feisty, while the vampires struck the balance of tough and flawed and as usual, the romantic hero was a very attractive character.
Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Amanda is a great narrator and perfect for Molly Harper's books. Her characterisation is great, everyone has a unique voice and delivery that suits their character perfectly. Her pace is spot on - not too fast and not too slow - and her inflection is great.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Lots of parts of the book made me laugh, Molly Harper's writing is witty and very clever.
Any additional comments?
I love the way Molly Harper characterises her vampires as flawed but in a funny way, not in the tortured, brooding way some other vampire series have gone for. She really brings a smal, southern American town to life without being derogatory and you really get a feel for the quirks and foibles of southern traditions.
