    "Good story "

A demon hunting ex-priest and a coroner make for an interesting team to battle the supernatural. Miscarriages and S.I.D.S. cases bring the duo together to investigate and rid the trouble from Bucktown. The characters are likable and interesting. I was impressed with the author’s knowledge of HIPAA. Not to many fiction authors think to add modern day healthcare compliance and privacy requirements to their stories! The storyline and descriptions were good. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I think my only complaint is the book was to short. Great launch to a series though. Hooked me right off. Loved the writing, characters and the story. The narrator did a fantastic job, great performance.

    "Good Story"

The BuckTown Babies is the first in a series about Father Gunter who is a Demon Hunter. The story is well paced and the Author does a fabulous job of introducing the reader/listener to the characters and their background story while weaving a thrilling demon tale. The narrator did a great job bring the story and characters to life. I look forward to more from the Author and narrator

    "great story"

I was given this audio Book via author/narrator for a honest and unbiased review of said book. the opinions are my own and not anyone else's.

Between Janine R Pestel re writing this fine book and John H Fehskens narrating it I couldn't put it down until it was finished.
The rewrite was much better than the first novel of this title.

    Story
"can't wait for the next in the series"

This is a great rewrite on an already good book! The story is cleaned up a bit and easier to follow. There was one point though when Father Gunter was thinking about his sister and it felt like i missed something only because the explanation of what happened to his sister didn't come until a little bit later in the story. Other than that i really enjoyed this story! if felt like a complete story with an ending but kept open enough at the end for the series to continue with no questions.

    "short but great"

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book was really good. I really liked the premise, the characters, and the narration. My biggest complaint was that it was so short. I hope the next books are at least full-length novels. The story reminds me of the short-lived show Constantine that had a fallen priest battling demons but blended with Supernatural.

All-in-all, it was a great book and I'll look for more from this author and narrator.

    Story
    "Father Knows Best"

Father Gunter, Demon Hunter knows there is something very wrong in Bucktown. Babies and unborn children are dying at an alarming rate. He soon finds himself in a battle not only to stop the killing of children but for his soul itself. Along the way he finds some unlikely allies and a few clues to finding his sister who was taken by demons five years ago.

I liked this update from Janine Pestel. It cleans up some rough patches and makes Father Gunter's timeline more seamless so the story can continue in the next book. I like the way Pestel wraps up this inaugural story and sets up the next in the series without feeling rushed or unfinished. I do have a couple of critiques. The dialogue is still a bit stilted and formal and things fall into place just a little too easily for the good Father. But this rewrite is enough for me to be waiting for the next book to come out so I can watch this talented author develop this storyline.

The narration by John Fehskens was good for me. I enjoyed the voice he used for Father Gunter and for Robert. His female voices were passable and didn't distract from the listen. He is a good match for this material. I listened on 1.5 speed.

I received this audiobook for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

"Great Start of a Supernatural Series"

Love the characters of Father Johann Gunter (ex-priest and demon hunter) and Robert (a pathologist) as well as his ½ brother Father Tuttle. Father Gunter head to small town of Bucktown as he feels all of the miscarriages and SIDs are due to a demon that also has his sister Theresa and wants to save them. There are ghosts, demons, action and likeable characters similar style of Ron Ripley books. Cannot wait for 2nd book of Ravens Do Not Fly at Night as Gunter and Robert continue on the adventures. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the paranormal/supernatural. This book was given to me by author and I provided this voluntary review. THANK YOU!
