Summary

The first book in New York Times and (USA Today) best-selling Texas romance author Jean Brashear's TEXAS HEROES: The Gallaghers of Morning Star series—stories rich with emotion, ripe with secrets, scandals and sexual tension.

Up-and-coming chef Maddie Collins finds out that her father's life was a lie when she is bequeathed a family homeplace she never knew existed-by the husband of the only woman her father ever loved. A former SEAL, sexy cowboy Boone Gallagher arrives back in Texas to discover that the father who drove him away has struck one last blow. The only place he's ever thought of as home now belongs to a woman who doesn't want it, and he must keep her there for thirty days-or it will be lost to them both.

"Jean Brashear's distinctive storytelling voice instantly draws in the reader. She writes with warmth and emotional truth. The depth of her understanding of human nature marks her as a writer to watch, a writer to read and a writer to enjoy." (#1 New York Times best-selling author Debbie Macomber)

"I really enjoyed this, er, literary foreplay. I knew that when these two finally made love, they wouldn't just be going through the motions-there were going to be some fireworks....Jean Brashear is a terrific discovery for me." (The Romance Reader

"Gifting readers with another emotionally charged romance, Ms. Brashear has a fine knack for commingling full-bodied characters, a fast-moving storyline and just the right measure of passion." (Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine

"Jean Brashear has that "it" factor. She is an incredibly talented writer who can hit every note with enough clarity to bring the reader tears, laughter, or just, 'Oh, my, this is an amazing story.' " (New York Times best-selling author Stella Cameron)

Secrets can sometimes reveal a treasure

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audiobook, and tell these stories until I order the paperback! I share my books with family and friends!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I don't know who my favorite character would be. Maddie just wants a place to really call home but she doesn't want to "cause waves", but Boone is such a "man" and seemingly unforgiving. He's melting slowly and unwillingly.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

He makes me want to laugh in the proper places and cry in the others, his narration is fantastic!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I guess there were a couple parts in the book that moved me. Finding out about Maddie's father and Boone's realization of family, that can really come true!

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed Eric's narration of this romantic and a little suspenseful book. A great "read"!

Easy to recommend

What other book might you compare Texas Secrets to and why?

Anything by Tess Thompson

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

This was my first introduction to Author Jean Brashear. She is a wonderful romance storyteller. Not a little steam! Happily ever after was on point. The narrator was smooth, clear, did not drop off at the end, and his characters were varied and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of Brashear's series and listening to other audio books with this talented narrator.

Wonderful Beginning!

What a wonderful beginning to what looks like a great series. Maddie and Boone are forced together due to the terms of a will and neither one is happy about it. Their relationship is certainly filled with lots of angst, however all ends well in the end. Can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series. Eric Dove is an exceptional narrator!

Love this book.

I love Texas western romances and this one is no exception. It's not a cliffhanger but it does leave the reader wanting to know what the future holds. The narrator was great also.

Most Enjoyable

Sparks and fireworks, such a lovely combination in this story about two people trying to sort out the mess their parents had left for them.
Jean Brashear has impressed me with her easy flow of writing. She at once captivates your attention and holds it right until she has finished her tale and then she leaves you panting for more. Such talent!
Eric Dove, our narrator, has a beautiful, explicit voice which he uses to portray the emotions and personality of each character.
I highly recommend this book or audiobook.

Out of ashes of tragedy comes a rebirth of love.

Runaway into the west with Maddie Collins and Boone Gallagher. In order to step into the future, both must come face to face with their parents heartbreaking past. Texas Secrets is a tale of long held secrets and shocking revelations. Maddie and Boone are caught in the middle of circumstances beyond their control. Maddie has the home she always wanted, if she can survive the prejudices of a cowboy who sees her presence as a betrayal of his family legacy. Ms. Brashear spins an emotional tale of legacies, redemption and a betrayal that spans generations. Out of the ashes of tragedy comes a rebirth of love. Brashear and Dove give this broken home a heart.

What a wonderful story!

What made the experience of listening to Texas Secrets the most enjoyable?

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I had purchased an ebook version of this book years ago. Listening to the audio version brought the story to life. It made the characters more alive. I really enjoyed the audiobook. It brought me back to such a wonderful cast of characters. I so enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

Have you listened to any of Eric G. Dove’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have enjoyed all of his works.
