Publisher's Summary

Owner of the Chimay grade starship dubbed The Pittsburgh, Captain Jane Sevis is one of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy. Except for the occasional problematic hunt, her life is pretty uncomplicated. When a particularly slippery target reveals the real reason for being in her database, her world is turned upside down in more ways than one. Will she follow her gut and look the other way for the man she may be falling for? Or will their love fall prey to her mercenary heart before it gets a real chance to ignite?

What the Critics Say

"Dyllin hits all the right notes in this light SF romance, building a universe full of politics and battle while fanning the flames of passion. Fans of both paranormal romance and space opera will find this a refreshing mix of the two." (Publishers Weekly)

    "A Starblinding spellbinging romance"

This book by D.T Dyllin is not full of of syrupy romance and dreamy sighs. But if is full of real romance and a tug at your lips at their interactions which I think is better and more realistic for us here in the real world to aspire to.
I liked Jane her intelligence and her strong personality. I admired the fact that she wants to do good by everyone around her and that she tries to mend her flaws. She became an oddly organic person, beautifully encapsulated through the integrity to her own heart and moral code.and the cat and mouse with her quarry is a real joy to listen to.Don't expect this book to suddenly be a complex piece of literature, because surely it is not. It fits in its own little lovely box. so it's one for the heart. It's 100% drama and teen romance. It's light. It's quick. It's totally YA. It's a great read for a spring afternoon. It's the kind of book that has you smiling, daydreaming and relaxing. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. As always this is my honest opinion .Ashley Holt Her enactment, tempo, and changing speech patterns for each individual is distinct and engaging. I do not believe the print version is any less compared to the audiobook but I will say Ashley adds a new dimension to the novel that cannot be appraised enough and would suggest to any reader to give the audio version a try.

    "Fiery romance and adventure mixed"

    D. T. Dyllin has crafted a well-written book with great pacing, it will keep you listening and wanting to hear the next chapter even if you should be doing something else. Some romance stories are lacking in character personality, story or the setting but not here both the story and the setting were interesting and the characters have depth, personality, backgrounds and their own motivations,

I would like to see more of this setting and to find out what happens next in this story. If you like space adventures and/or romance you should find something in this story for you.

The narration by Ashley Holt is solid and fits Captain Jane Sevis the main character personality perfectly. Each of the other characters also has a unique voice and there is no difficulty working out who is talking, how they are feeling or if they are being sarcastic or the like.

My one gripe with this book is how many things are a laser something, laser bars, laser cuffs and the like but I think most people will not mind it

There is romance, fire, passion, conflict, and adventure to be found in this book if that sound of interest to you then this is the book for you.

All and all a fun story that has more depth than you might expect. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

What made the experience of listening to Starblind the most enjoyable?

The narrator's performance and the main character's sass.

    Any additional comments?

Great audio. Perfect for fans of Guardians of the Galaxy and packed with action and humor. I requested a copy of this audio from the author in exchange for an honest review via Audiobook Boom.

    "Good space romance"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yeah, I would if I found somebody with a similar interests. I don't know many people who enjoy scifi unfortunately.

What about Ashley Holt’s performance did you like?

She had a very soothing voice, that made the characters interesting and easy to listen to. Some narators are over the top, my favorites are ones that make me get engulfed in the story, and that's exactly what happened here.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not that I can remember, but I've never cried listening to a book.

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the book, I love scifi books and it was something different to have romance in one. It wasn't a super in depth novel, but it was a fun romp.

    "Not my cup of tea"

The book has some promising world building but I was expecting more of a sci-fi epic and less or a romance novel set in space.

The narrator was great. Sometimes had trouble differentiating between male and female characters, but her pacing and tone were perfect throughout.

Generally a great reading of a fun book. Felt a bit lost a few times but otherwise enjoyed very much. I received this audio book free in exchange for an unbiased review

    Story
"Love and a rebellion from the embers of fire!"

This was so much more than a story about Jane and Ash and their journey beyond the stars to find love. You are transported into space with Jane has a crew on her ship. I instantly loved Jane's character. She is funny, snarky and a bad-ass. Even though she is half-human (she had her DNA spliced with some other being), she is a real woman of today. I love how funny she is with her obsession of all things from Earth (which no longer exists so she has no idea if what she wears or talks about....another quality of her character that is great!).

But as I said this was about so much more then a steamy sci-fi romance between Jane and Ash, it is suspenseful, and full of intrigue, deception, trust, friendships and races uniting.

I was given this free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This is really worth the credit! I will be looking for the next book in the series!

    "Starblind"
What did you love best about Starblind?

Starblind presents us a universe where humans are not the only species on it. Jane Sevis, a bounty hunter, is looking for a place to belong. Missing an Earth she never knew, she surrounds herself with old antics from a no longer existing planet.

    "Loved the main characters sass!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Starblind to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version of Starblind, so I can't really say which would be better, though I enjoyed Ashley Holt's narration. It fit Captain Jane's personality so well.

What other book might you compare Starblind to and why?

I'd have to honestly say that I can't think of another book that I would compare to Starblind. It's a little bit Spaceballs in regards to the humor, and a little bit Killjoys (on SyFy) because of the bounty hunting and romance. It's just a fun Sci-fi novel.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I don't know that I had a particularly favorite scene, but I really enjoyed the banter between Captain Jane and Ash. Ashley Holt's narration, IMO, added to the fun easygoing relationship that they had with each other.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This was a good, fun book, but it wasn't one that I wanted to listen to in all one sitting. The pace moved along well, but I ended up listening to it in roughly hour long chunks. Much of it was Captain Jane's thoughts or a lead character monologue, which I tired of every so often and had to take a break from.

    "Great romance in space"

The author has a wonderful imagination and I enjoyed the book very much however at first I didn't like the narrator. She does an OK job with the story however the distinguishing differences between the characters are kind of hard to interpret. All in all I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to just about anybody who likes her space adventure with romance

    "needs more substance"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Unfortunately, I don't think so. when I finished I was left wondering where the heck the story arc was.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The bad guy in the book was offed while "off screen", so to speak. I actually spoke out a loud "are you freakin kidding me?" when that part came up. I desperately wanted to hear that scene! It was basically the turning point of the book and it was left out.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator's pacing was very difficult to listen to. It was, how to put it... bouncy? It seemed like every single sentence had unneeded emphasis on at least one word, long drawn out syllables (reminded me of a teacher being bored of her mind while reading aloud or something), and sentences would just immediately rush into another sentence with no break at all. She also did very little to create unique voices. Several times I thought Jane was speaking when it was Ash, and vice versa.

I will say that I adore her ability to do a laughing talk while narrating.

Could you see Starblind being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe, since it seems like it could be a spreading story, what with the aliens hell bent on wiping out other species. I loved the new idea on what happened to earth and how we went on by gene splicing, and I feel like that could be expanded on. I'm terrible with actors though.

    Any additional comments?

It seemed like the book was mostly the main character inner monologuing, and to be honest, it got tedious quickly. There was way too much inane, random thoughts written in that really clogged up the flow of the book. We also got very little info about Ash. Pretty much all I gleaned about him is that he can turn into fire, he's cute, and he's old as heck. Why was Jane attracted to him other than genetics? It seemed like his main part in the book was to sleep with Jane and that's it.

I did like the basis of the book, I promise. As I said, I loved the new twist on Earth being destroyed, and the big bad alien dudes wanting solar system domination. I loved the species described, too. I just wanted more info!
