Publisher's Summary

This paranormal shifter romance series is set in a dystopian future where fertile women are so rare that they are now bought and sold like commodities. Each book in the Sold series follows the fortunes of a curvy heroine who has been sold to a pair of hunky shifters with some very interesting (and arousing!) results). Each book features a different type of Wereshifter and can be listened to standalone and in any order!

Sold to the Dragons

Curvy Kira Southerly has resigned herself to the fate of being sold to dragon shifters Blake and Steven. She is initially scared but she finds herself enjoying it much more than she expected, especially when she finds the dragons will have to share her in more ways than one.

Sold to the Bears

Now it is the turn of curvy Lila to be sold to bear shifters Adrian and Grant. Long steamy nights of passion and ménage-filled ecstasy are guaranteed for Lila however she has something else up her sleeve and the bears are in for a big surprise.

Sold to the Alphas

Curvy Rowan cannot bear to watch her sister being given away, so she switches the documents and allows herself to be sold to hunky Alpha wolves Chase and Grayson. Only problem is, Rowan is one of the many infertile women left on the planet. How will the Alphas react when they find they have been sold a dud?

    "Don't waste your money/credit"
Would you try another book written by Amira Rain or narrated by Meghan Kelly?

    No I don't think I would.

What was most disappointing about Amira Rain’s story?

    The ending.

Would you be willing to try another one of Meghan Kelly’s performances?

No absolutely not I can not stand her voice. It took me 2 days to finish a 3 hour book. She can not do multiple characters in different voices.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No not really very disappointed in it.

"Same plot in every book, with tiny changes."

Rod is the new moist for me with these books. I had high hopes for these books thinking they'd be a good series. In reality I felt like I wasted my time. Do you remember those, "Choose your own adventure!" books from when you were younger? That's what these books feel like. I felt like each one was almost the same story but instead of one shifter group it was another. You first had the Dragons, then the Bears, then the Wolves. They were all so similar that I predicted quite a few of the outcomes.

I can't say that I would in retrospect use a credit on these stories. I had high hopes for them and in the end, I was let down. It was ok, but after the second short story, I kind of lost interest. The summery of the book sucks you in, but once you start listening to the books you realize that things are really repetitive and disappointing. If you don't mind the same concept being reiterated a few times, then these are the stories for you. Its a really good deal.

This book was given to me for free at my request and in exchange I provided this honest voluntary review.

    "Sex Scenes"

This collection of books is for listeners who don't need a complicated story line interfering with the sex scenes. The narration is ok but I stopped listening after 9 hours because I didn't think I could stand hearing her say "slick feminine folds" one more time. I tried really hard to finish the collection because I agreed to do a review and it is not fair to the author not to do so. The last half of the collection may be excellent.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

I was gifted this audio ARC from the author for a honest and unbiased review
Amira Rain did an ok job at this book few editing mistakes but ok.
Meghan Kelly does a great job with tone variations. Her female voices rock. Meghan keeps you listening even when you want to give up.
These books are adult only for sure. Not that I mind but there are a lot of "Sex Scenes"
I didn't listen to this book in one sitting it actually to me awhile to finish them.
I found a lot of the writing was repeated almost like there was a template and words were filled in. I know it's not so. So in saying that the editor must take more care on the editing.
I do recommend this book to those who really love erotic works

    "Good listen."
Would you listen to Sold again? Why?

I have enjoyed listening to this book. Its starts out early with sex scenes. The story isn't really believeable but its fiction! Its a easy listen. The females are dumb as rocks but whatever. The story flows well. The narrator did a very good job of narrating. Overall its a good listen and worth the credit. Each story relates to the last story which I like.

What did you like best about this story?

I like happy endings. I like that sex scenes start early in the stories. If sex is going to be highlighted as a content warning, then it should be full of sex scenes and this book is.

What about Meghan Kelly’s performance did you like?

    Great job!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I cold have but time did not allow.

    Any additional comments?

I was given this book free of charge for a honest review by the author. Thank you for allowing me to review this book. I try to give the most honest review I can, good or bad.

    Story
"Sex was the only plot these books have."
Would you try another book from Amira Rain and/or Meghan Kelly?

On the fence. If it had an actual plot than possibly.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something a little more in depth.

What aspect of Meghan Kelly’s performance would you have changed?

Her narration was okay. It wasn't bad, but didn't really stand out either. There is a difference between a narrator that reads a story and one that tells the story with their voice acting. Meghan Kelly reads the story. Her cadence is monotone and at times quick, like she is just reading one sentence to the next. If the listener was able to hear emotion and reaction it would improve the experience.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Irresistible? I don't think I would use that term. What would have "improved" this romance would be if it actually had romance in it. A a romance reader I exapect to be drawn to the characters, to see their personalities in a way that will allow me to love or hate them. I want to get to know them, see how they view their world, how they relate to other characters, and ultimately watch them fall in love or be loved. Romance is intimacy. Sex without that is just sex. And this book is the latter.

    Any additional comments?

I am an avid reader of all genres, but I love paranormal romance, specifically shifter romances. however these stories feel like they are erotica more than romance. Erotica is mainly sex heavy, with plot lines used more as a way to move the story from one sex scene to the next. They often have little in way of character building or story development. That is what this collection is. Had it been labeled as erotica I may have given it 5 stars, because it alters the expectation and experience. But since it was labeled as a romance, I can say in that capacity it falls short.
I received this audiobook from audiobook boom for free for my unbiased review.

    "Blah"

Sorry to say, this was not a good series to get on tape. First of all, the first person narrative really detracts from what could be an interesting plot line. The narrator makes the heronine come accross as a whiney, entitled, and naive teenager. This aggravates the hell out of me when what could be a strong woman, pouts for not getting her way. Often over something stupid, insignificant, or something the common sense of a typical reader would want to throttle them for. The narrator doesn't do anything for heroes either, as they also sound arrogant and haughty. I try to imagine them with deeper, more authoritative voices, like in other books on tape, but it's hard to get passed the "I know what's best for you, let me pat your little head" drawl. The plot is an interesting idea, but the first person narrative leaves you wanting to know more, like how do the shifters shift? What is that experience like, to be a bear or dragon, etc...? Why do only men shift? These kind of questions or the prospective of the shifters never get addressed, so don't get your hopes up.

    Any additional comments?

I found myself skipping forward with this series, by the end of book 2 I had enough. I skipped all the way to the final chapter of book 3 and felt like I understand most of the book without even listening to it. The narrator did an okay job but the writing was just under whelming. For what my opinion is worth save your credit on this one.
"Enjoyable"
    Any additional comments?

Overall an entertaining, engaging and enjoyable set of stories. They are paranormal so don't expect believable. There is a slight explanation to the situation the world and characters find themselves in now. Is it believable? No, but it's a paranormal so they don't have to make complete sense. Just sit back, let go of reality and enjoy. These are basically a little story to go with your hot & heavy steamy ménage love triangles. If you don't like ménage in your books than skip this one.

This book is listed as Romance on Audible. I would classify it more as Erotica.

These are all stories where the hot & steamy comes first, the romance comes second but each has a HEA. At least for some of the participants. You can't help but feel bad for the ones who don't get a life partner out of the deal. Especially Steven the Dragon. He deserves a HEA.

These are not complex stories and each can be listened to as a standalone book. There are no cliffhangers. While they are entertaining there is not anything really new or unexpected. All of the stories follow the same basic setup/plot. Only the characters and species of shifter changes. Even though they are all set in the same world a little more difference in each couples set of circumstances would have made each story more interesting.

I did get annoyed with the constant repeating of lines. Saying something in one line to say it again in the next sentence with only a slight change. Or ending one sentence and starting the next sentence saying the exact same thing. It got annoying fast. This happens in each of the stories but it was really noticeable in Sold to the Alpha's.

Meghan Kelly did a really good job with the narration as usual. She has a very distinct voice. It's a voice that some people really like, others really dislike. In this story her voice seemed a little softer and higher pitched at times than in others I have listened to in the past. Still she has a pleasant voice that's easy on the ears. Clearly spoken with a nice pace. Some really good character voices. Of coarse her female voices are great. Some of her male voices are really good and others need a bit of work. She does bring the characters and story to life through her narration. Very enjoyable

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.
Where does Sold rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's up there. I love the stories and the world they're set in.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked the world building and the characters are great.

What about Meghan Kelly’s performance did you like?

She brought the individual characters to life, each having a different voice. Made it very easy to track who was speaking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The interactions between each woman and her mate or mates when the decision is made of who show will choose is very moving.
