New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan returns to her sexy new series starring a Chicago crime family with a mystical secret.

But the darkness in which they so often find sanctuary can also consume them.
Shadow Riders, Marriko & her unknown saviour Ricco. Both from great Shadow Riders Families, especially unknown to Marriko's Family, hers is legendary.
I'm going to input my 1 niggling negative Pointer & that is there's areas where there's repetitive a little too much in a couple of areas.
But forget about that. This is another great piece of work with the shadow blenders & these 2 connect even though she was going to his on a mission, which turns around when she sees he's not the person she's been told he is. And he knows why she's there but he has to have her.
So here we have ANOTHER GREAT piece of work by the fabulous Christine Feehan, where we've got lots of action in BOTH the physical & sexual sense. but heck the sexual IS SO SENSUAL.
REALLY RECOMMEND IT
I have enjoyed all of the different Christine Feehan series. The first book in the Shadow series was suspenseful and enjoyable. I kept giving this book, Shadow Reader, time to improve, but the relationship between the two main characters and the "art of ropes" was just too cheesy!!! What a waste of money:(

As a Christine Feehan fan, I've read all her published work. This isn't a favorite. It's a little slow and repetitive. I enjoy the concept of the shadow riders and as usual she draws interesting multifaceted characters. The first book in this series moved faster. Once the characters and basic plot were established, the story seemed to bog down. I think the next book will determine the viability of this series.

Missing that intangible that make you want more yet satisfied. Loved the primary characters but the intimacy between them just wasn't there for me I thought because of what she had gone through there would be more interaction in friendship between the women. There was teasing.and acceptance yet it seemed superficial. Not enough reconciliation or perhaps closure a couple more chapters would have given the reader satisfaction reality is fine but in some instances the antagonist need too recognize the truth. I have to I love the concept of this new series. This one missed that final thread that would have put a bow on top a wonderful gift to be enjoyed over again. I will still read this series with anticipation. The first had everything one looks for from CF. A loyal fan.

I was eagerly anticipating this book. The first half felt very repetitive as things were said over and over chapter after chapter. The last half was long drawn out sex scenes. At the heart of the story, it was good, but too much fluff left me disappointed. Narrator mispronounces names from book to book, and that's irritating.

What disappointed you about Shadow Reaper?
Repetitive, not enough romance between H/H, to much action fight scenes and to many names of characters to keep up with.
What was most disappointing about Christine Feehan’s story?
Needed more Romance between H/H and less fight action scenes
What didn’t you like about Jim Frangione’s performance?
I usually love Jim Frangiones Narration and have listen to many of them. But he recorded Shadow Reaper's volume to low. I could barely hear it I moved away from my kindle a few feet. I had the volume as far as it would go and it was just recorded to low.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I liked the idea of the story but it just wasn't written well
Any additional comments?
I know I am the odd man out on Shadow Reaper. There are so many 4 & 5 star reviews but I am sorry Shadow Reaper is a total failure in my opinion. For the last 3 or 4 years The Queen of Paranormal Romance Christine Feehan has been a Hit Or Miss. This was a Miss. She spent to much time on outlandish fight action scenes instead of equalizing it with romantic scenes between Ricco Ferraro and Mariko Majo/Tanakas. Ok I am not interested in reading about rope tying what the heck is this, just a fancy way of describing sexual bondage? Oh don't get me started with the repetition verses in this story. CF says the same thing over and over just in a different ways. There has to be 50 plus characters names you have to remember, either Italian or Japanese names which she uses to fill up her word count. I am sorry to all my many Feehan friends out there but this is a terrible story!! but I am glad you liked it. For those of you who know me. You know I call it as I read it. I don't think this is the series for me. I can't see myself reading Nicolette's story. I am sick of heroines who have been repeatedly gang raped and beaten. In this case Nicolette by her 3 step uncles. She has beaten and raped everyday by them for 2 years!! I Cannot Not Recommend this series. But I love Christine Feehans Dark series, GhostWalker series and her Leopard series. I will just stick with those series. Sometimes an author can write to many series and loose there way! Would you consider the audio edition of Shadow Reaper to be better than the print version?
No both version are very good and entertaining. Jim Frangione brings life to the to the story.
What other book might you compare Shadow Reaper to and why?
The Black Dagger Brotherhood, King,
Which scene was your favorite?
When Rico finds his woman and their shadows meet. Also when he confronts his family about is time in training.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes if I had time I would love to sit and listen.
Let me preface this review by saying; I am Italian, and this series features a lot of Italian characters, so I may be a bit biased, but wow, I love these books! I cannot wait for the next one to come out. The Shadow Rider supernatural creature is a new one for me, I'd never considered it until the first book, but now I love the concept. The whole lore is very thought out and I am super interested to learn what else the Riders can do. The stories are supernatural romance in general, but there is a lot of action and, of course- a must for me, humor as well. They are also hot and sexy, with a slow burn that will have you on edge and happy about it. Jim Frangione is just the bestest, sigh, I could listen to him all day, oh wait, I kind of do. This is the kind of series that I will pick back up and read again and again.
Loved the descriptions of the rope binding techniques, but the story overall was repetitive and relatively boring. very enjoy this author but found this book disappointing
If you could sum up Shadow Reaper in three words, what would they be?
Complex story, riveting!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Shadow Reaper?
I won’t be a spoiler.
Which character – as performed by Jim Frangione – was your favorite?
I’m always glad when Jim Franfione is the narrator of her books. His accents for the Italians characters are spot on, he is able to differentiate the male and keep their voices from the previous book. What a wonderful performance. He conveys such emotions from rage to sorrow, I know I will be sad and crying at some point and then taken to a breathless fight scene the next. Truly a great talent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I would have listened to it in one sitting if I had the time. After a couple of weeks I listen to it again to pick up the nuances I may have missed the first time.
Any additional comments?
I can’t wait to see what they’ll partner up with on the next book. Can’t wait!
The narrator was good. The story line was a little hard to follow because I have no knowledge of the rope tying they referred to.
