Summary

Sometimes fate leaves us with nothing but a name.

Grace Fabrizio, the brilliant and sheltered child of Mafia boss Phillip Scarlatti, has just received her master's degree from Yale in computer engineering. The celebratory lunch in Midtown Manhattan with her husband and father is the last time she sees either of them alive.

Just steps away from their limousine, Grace watches in horror as her father and husband are gunned down by a ruthless and brazen assassin. Watching the murderer flee the scene, he makes his intentions clear: She is next. Accusations begin to fly as she stands there in denial with a smoking gun in her hand.

Fleeing the gruesome scene, Grace immediately takes what limited resources she has available, assumes an alias, goes deep into hiding, and prays for a knight to slay her dragons. Sometimes fate leaves us with nothing but a name. Grace is left without even that much.

Cullen McKinnon is stranded in the 20th century and can never return to 15th-century England. Having no other alternative, Cullen is making a life for himself in the 20th century and is a successful US marshal working in the San Antonio, Texas, division offices.

To locate any record of his long-lost nephew, Decklyn McKinnon, Cullen contracts with Amazing Grace Genealogy Services, but something just doesn't feel right. Suspicions rise the longer he works with the company's representative, Gray Martin. Unable to leave well enough alone, Cullen unwittingly blows Grace's cover, exposing her to the assassin she has been running from for the past three years.

Can Cullen protect Grace in the present from the specters of her past? Knighted by King Henry VIII, he certainly has the ability, but is Cullen ready to make the sacrifice?

He must let Morgan, 1494, and his past go if Grace is to have a future.
