On to Richmond is the second in the ongoing Bregdan Chronicles historical novel series. It's listeners like you who have turned it into a world-wide bestseller. Thank you!
Burdened with the responsibility of running an entire plantation, Carrie Cromwell fights to understand the forces tearing her beloved country apart. As battles rage around her, she watches as her life slowly unravels and she discovers truths she would never have imagined. Will her actions and decisions push her even further from those she loves? When the danger she dreads becomes reality, will she find the courage and strength to escape?
Robert is pulled into battle, facing things he would never have imagined. Moses and Rose face a great loss, and then make a decision that could claim their lives.
Everyone struggles to survive and live in a country that has exploded into Civil War. The second audiobook of The Bregdan Chronicles historical fiction series will pull you in and never let you go. You'll experience the Civil War era (and all the years to come) through the eyes of both White and Black, free and slave, Southern and Northern - and you'll fall in love with every character.
This series was apparently written for a pre-teen audience. The story doesn't advance, the writing is simplistic and repetitive. The author overused phrases throughout such as "a long moment" and dwells on dreams. She attaches twenty first century sensibilities, ideals and values to nineteenth century characters. Overall, the material poor, as was the finished product.
Worse than the material was the narration. Teenage Carrie was given the voice of an old woman. All the male characters sounded alike.
I would NOT recommend this book or series under any circumstances.

Everyone studied the American Civil War in school. Unfortunately, the ability of teachers to explain the tragedy as well as the triumphs without causing most to shut down and fail to grasp why it effects us to this day. Speaking as a Civil War Buff and as recipient of a B.A. in History from Grove City College, Mrs. Dye has done her research well. This wonderful story has us continuing to follow Carrie Cromwell from April 1861 through May 1862. Not only was I transported to the time, but furthermore can feel the Love the author has for God. Carrie has decided to Love God with alls she has and love her neighbor as herself. She is a principled woman and she lives out those principles regardless of the consequences to herself. I wonder if Mrs. Dye spent much time reading James prior to the birth of this story yarn. If you are a Christian, over the age of 12 and have a love for stories that help to show how to apply truth to one's own life ... well this is the series for you. Do make sure that you have read the first book in this series prior to starting this book. Surely, no only will you enjoy a great story but your soul will soar with desire to follow God an trust Him in all things.

This is the best trilogy taking place just before & after the start of the civil war. I just finished the first two books in the series and can't wait to continue. One can't help but fall in love with the wonderful cast of characters.
I definitely liked the first one better. This one seemed to go in circles a bit, but still a very good series. Looking forward to the third installment!
Love this series. I'm listening to them way to fast!! I can't wait for the next one!
I feel like I am living in this series. it is amazing to think this was not very long ago in our history and people believed they had the right to own others. I love each character and their struggle to make the world a better place.
I have only read the first two books so far, but it has my attention!
Great story! Wonderful way to pass the time on a long distance trip. Thanks Ginny! Can't wait to start the next book!!
Can't wait to delve into book 3. I love all the history & the characters
I sure wish this could be made for a TV movie or series. It reminds me of the TV series of the mid 80's by the name North and South starting Kristie Alley and Patrick Swayze, yet I think this one would be even better!!! I have fallen in love with this series and can't get enough of it!!!!!'
