Summary
For the whole of Rose's respectable married life, she had kept faith with two men. To Ned she was a perfect wife, mother of his son, and elegant hostess of Slepe. To Mylo, Rose was an impetuous and unconventional mistress, answering his erratic and impassionate calls throughout 50 years of tactful duplicity. After Ned's funeral Rose looks back on a life of dual constancy, passion, humour, and the ambiguities of love - and chooses her future.

Excellent
I thought I had read all of Mary Wesley's books decades ago...but in the last few weeks have discovered two books which seem new to me. Perhaps it is because I am listening to them instead of reading them? Who knows...
A satisfying story and I thought the main characters were well-drawn. The fact that they live through WW2 adds drama to the story and lends it credibility.
Lovely book and I have to mention that it was SO well-peformed by Anna Massey! She absolutely made it all come alive!

What a little gem of a book
What made the experience of listening to Not That Sort of Girl the most enjoyable?
A passionate and at time's spicy book. It was well read and moved at a fast pace. Kept me riveted to the end.

Favourite Mary Wesley!
Always wanted to name my son, Milo, because of this book. I just love the story - the garden, the dogs, everything. Have read & listened over & over again.

Brilliant - one of my Mary Wesley favourites!
Beautifully observed, I really cared about the outcome.

A lovely war time tale
Would you consider the audio edition of Not That Sort of Girl to be better than the print version?
I love my audio books & would not consider reading print versions again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rose, she was always thoughtful of others although they did not always deserve it.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
At the hospital when Rose goes to collect Mylo, taking him back to her house along with her son Christopher & the dog.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Defiantly, it was a page turner for sure.

Great story. Amazing narration by Anna Massey. Must listen to all Mary Wesley’s books. I think I still have the paperback books - I thought I would probably re-read them!
