Could have been better

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

After the first few chapters I found myself looking through my audible and kindle library looking to see if I had read this book before. It wasn't to I was into the book that I released that it reminded me of 2 books I had already heard by Susan Hill. A lot of the scenes in this book are very similar to her other ghost stories. I would say that it was not time well spent because of this and was very disappointed with this story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I found the ending was a little confusing. I thought it did not really finish the whole story fully and I was left with questions unanswered.

Which character – as performed by Matt Addis – was your favourite?

I thought Matt Addis gave a brilliant performance for all the characters.

Did Mist in the Mirror inspire you to do anything?

Not really.

Slow

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It wouldn't be the first book I recommended...I spent the whole book waiting for it to get going. Just didn't seem to be going anywhere.

If you’ve listened to books by Susan Hill before, how does this one compare?

First Susan Hill book. Which is a shame as I would think twice before trying another of her novels.

Did Matt Addis do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

It was a good narration, despite the shortcomings of the plot itself.

Do you think Mist in the Mirror needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. Seems to me a short story would have covered it!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

a proper ghost story

hearing rather than watching or reading it transports you there so you feel it as it unfolds and the uncertainty remains long after the end. Brilliant!

Great narration

Slow burn but evocative of vintage storytelling. Ending a bit vague but still worth a listen.

Brilliant story.

A story that kept me engrossed to the end. The narrator greatly endorsed the atmosphere too.
