Summary

Frances Angel, drunk and disgruntled, arrives in Italy to attend the I Zingari Art School, leaving behind her dazzling career as a successful theatrical impresario and returning to a distant and painful past. She falls into an eclectic group of performance artists, ex-soldiers and a housewife who really just wants to paint something to match her settee. In the village a scale replica of the La Scala opera house becomes the setting for the great drama of Frances' past to be played out on the world's smallest stage. Frances expected to find some answers but what she didn't expect was romance and quite so much farce.

Entertaining and very witty

A simple plot with some brilliant characters. Sandi Toksvig's sarcastic humour made me laugh out loud throughout this book. Very cleverly written and wonderfully narrated.

Pleasant beach/holiday read

This book is a pleasant beach/holiday read. It is not a masterpiece, but it is entertaining if you are not looking for anything to be taken too seriously. All in all it kept me company.

Uber-thin story

Would you try another book written by Sandi Toksvig or narrated by Sandi Toksvig?

I've always loved Sandis writing and so I would try other books of hers. However, had this been my first I would never go back for more!

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

Melted into Air

A great idea for a short story - but a bit too neatly finished with happily ever afters.
