Auch hier steht ein Naturwissenschaftler im Mittelpunkt des Geschehens - der Physiker David Mahler, der glaubt, die Formel für die Zeit entdeckt zu haben. Mahler will seiner ungeheuren Entdeckung Gehör verschaffen und sucht wie gehetzt den Beistand des Nobelpreisträgers Valentinov. Doch seltsame Zufälle verhindern ein Zusammentreffen immer wieder. Mahler fühlt sich von unerklärlichen Mächten verfolgt, die Zeit wird zu seinem Feind...
