Publisher's Summary

Casey grew up in the foster care system, and it wasn't easy. A whirlwind of events after she ages out, shows her why. Her repressed shifter side emerges, with the help of her soon-to-be mate and his pack. She does her best to learn who and what she is, while under the pressure of being hunted by her biological father and his pack.

Mack has been searching for his adopted sister for years after her kidnapping, and thinks he has finally found her. His shifter side, on the other hand, thinks they have found their mate. Fate throws them together in the midst of an oncoming battle, and Mack lets instinct take over and follows his heart.

When the truth comes out, the mating instinct takes over, and together, Mack and Casey change the rules of shifter laws once again.

Would you try another book from Miranda Lynn and/or Brian Callanan?

I would defentily listen to another book that is narrated by Brian Callanan. I thought he was an excellent story teller. He got the pitch of the situation spot on. So you felt the fear, suspense, frustration, lust, etc. He sent a shiver of fear down my spin when he said the word prey. That is how good he is!

    Any additional comments?

Nothing new in this shifter book. It is predictable but it was still an OK read. At first (like other reviewers) I thought that there might be incest involved, but there wasn't. This was resolved earlier on in the book.
There is sex scenes and violence.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

    "ok start to a series"

This was a good listen and the narration was excellent. It started out a little strange with a shifter having feelings for his half sister. That straightened itself out and there was no incest issue like I feared was going to happen. This was the standard shifter finds mate type of book with some explicit sex scenes and pack territory fights. It was a little light on substance but was an ok start to a series.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    Story
    "Shifter Suspense"

Casey is a repressed shifter and a loner. Soon she won’t be able to deny her shifter side and Mack is determined to find her before that happens.

The relationship between Casey and Mack is interesting. There was plenty of sexual tension build up but the payoff was somewhat lackluster in my opinion. Still, it’s a solid paranormal romance and an enjoyable listen. Note: Some may feel that this story skates the line ethically because Casey is Mack’s adopted sister. Although they had been separated a long time and mostly during her formative years. Even so, I’m sure some will be offended.

The Audiobook Mack slides in at just under 4 ½ hours and is narrated by Brian Callanan. He did well in this fully voiced production. The sound quality could have been better, there was white noise in the background and the narrator's voice was breathy. But, I did enjoy his delivery, the emotion and range of his reading.

Overall, I liked Miranda Lynn’s writing and I'm curious to see what else she’s written.

This audiobook was given to me at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review.

If you could sum up Mack in three words, what would they be?

    Steamy, Action, Fantasy

What did you like best about this story?

The author does a great job of grabbing my attention so that I had no trouble focusing on just the story and let everything outside my little world just disappear.

What about Brian Callanan’s performance did you like?

He was the perfect voice for Mack. Mr. Callanan made the story very enjoyable. You don't care that he doesn't have the type of voice for a female character. He left me wanting more once the story got to the end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

My expertise doesn't include having the knowhow to make a film. I'll leave that to the professionals.

    Any additional comments?

The author and narrator were the perfect combination to enjoy this shifter story. Her words were a great vehicle for this narrator to bring her words to life. This was more of all types of shifters getting along instead of just focusing on one species. I look forward to reading more works by this author. And I look forward to listening to more of Mr. Callanan (already have a book in my wish list).

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Audio Copy of this book.

    Story
    "MACK"

I enjoyed this book! I will admit I was pretty put off by the cover layout, it seemed pretty cheesy LOL but the story itself is solid. It's a quick listen, short and to the point, but has all of the elements I like in a story. Friendship, love, action, and steam.. it's all there. The narrator did a good job and has a nice voice. Definitely worth a listen!

The moment Casey finds out she is his true mate.

    Story
    " Strong vocal characterization . . ."

"Getting familiar with the Black Mountain Pack was fun. Taking part in the search for Casey. Feeling her fears while she knew someone was following her. Her learning who and what she was. This was engaging. The story was short and had much for Casey to learn. Her comprehension of the things around her and the new world she was now a part of. I would like to see what direction things go in now that the lost has been found and returned back home.

Narration of . . . MACK (Black Mountain Pack Series) . . . Brian provided strong vocal for the characters. Each with a distinct presence. I felt a bit off centered with Mack having the more dominating voice over the alpha of the pack, but I learned to cope with it and moved on. The audio was smooth and transition seamlessly between chapters. There were no audio hiccups. The audio was able to keep up with speed changed. The quality clear. This was the perfect length for an afternoon drive-around. "
