Summary

<

i>They call him many names, but angelic isn't one of them.

Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Dain, is big, bad, and dangerous to know. No respectable woman would have anything to do with the "Bane and Blight of the Ballisters", and he wants nothing to do with respectable women. He's determined to continue doing what he does best - sin and sin again - and all's going swimmingly…until the day a shop door opens and she walks in.

She's too intelligent to fall for the worst man in the world.

Jessica Trent is a determined young woman, and she's going to drag her imbecile brother off the road to ruin, no matter what it takes. If saving him - and with him her family and future - means taking on the devil himself, she won't back down. The trouble is, the devil in question is so shockingly irresistible that the person who needs saving most is Jessica herself.

Wonderful romp brilliantly narrated

Kate Reading's narration brought this witty ridiculous romp to entertaining life. I laughed out loud frequently.

ABSOLUTE JOY!

Where does Lord of Scoundrels rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Up there with my other favourites.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dain and Jessica, of course, as there cannot be just one favourite.

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading – was your favourite?

Again, both Dain and Jessica!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many moments moved me; when Jessica understood how Dain covered his feelings and when Dain understood how his son had suffered.

Any additional comments?

This Audio version puts the icing on the cake for me as I have read this book many times in Paperback and Kindle. I will be listening again very soon.

Kate Reading is a master narrator, although originally, I preferred a male voice when the hero is so very masculine.

A promise not fulfilled

Jessica, a clever and determined young woman, was throughout an enjoyable character. A strong independence and sexual prowess that applauds femininity, aside from the unfortunate flaw of berating other women, Jessica was a quick witted woman. I had to be impressed by her commitment to Dane, the most unlikeable, self pitying, and unapproachable character. There was absolutely no element to him that made an enjoyable romantic counterpart. The only redeeming quality of the book was Jessica’s dialogue, aside from that, it’s the same tiring narrative of the virgin bride and toxic brute, the characters struggled to break from these one dimensional traits. The whole will they, won’t they grew tedious, and altogether I felt sad that such a strong character as Jessica was lost to an empty plot.

Fantastic story, adorable/not quite the usual

The main man is actually adorable & more complex the the usual. Leading lady is a strong character too & the plot is good...loved the book but did find the reading a bit harsh on my ears. The 'stupid man' voice is used too often & for every man...yes, the reader took a bit of the pleasure from the story but better than some I've heard - the Italian for instance was great. Fantastic story though...one I'd like to have read properly.

Hilarious Gallows Humour

Great arcing of a terrific combination of fun, humour and storylines. Cleverly mixed and read by one ne of the best narrators in the business. Possibly one of my favourite Audible books todate.

Awesome.

I find it difficult to put into words how much I enjoyed this book. The pain of Sebastian who has always been told he is ugly and unwanted which has turned him into a cold person who meets Jessica a strong and forceful woman. They both try to hide their attraction with various
Issues along the way. The sex scenes are not gratuitous which is a nice change.
The narration is superb. Thank you to all concerned

My favorite book plus my favorite narrator

This is the ideal romance audiobook I could imagine. Plus the Latin and Italian lines involved are very decently pronounced.

Seriously Disappointing.

The story is based on the Author's theme of Scoundrel meets Intelligent Woman and there it ends.
Despite ALL explanation to get you into having sympathy with the Scoundrel, he still comes across as a child throwing all his toys out of his cot.
The so called Intelligent woman is lead around by her sexual organs, unusual as this is usually the male complaint, so is irrelevant to the story.
As a result there is no amazing banter you find in other books, it is all about Hero, his suffering and excuses for bad behaviour.
You do meet some manipulative characters who are in another book.
I found the book cruel, so wouldn't recommend it.
