This is a good story -- I enjoyed getting to know the two main characters as they got to know each other. They are both people I would like to be friends with -- which is a measure of a good book for me.
I almost didn't get the book because of the cover -- although after listening to the book, I believe the two on the book cover are the young Lexie and Lee -- but I think that a more appropriate cover would have been a more mature couple in a bar -- Lexie and Sam.
This was a short listen, not either too short or too long.
Highly recommended for those who enjoy listening to a story about two people getting to know each other and deal with the demons of their past - and don't hop into bed the minute they meet.
wonderful book that was encouraging and uplifting - it hit a spot in my heart like no other book has in a while. It was a love story with twists and turns, death and other losses.- but such a good story❤️
It's slow moving with a purpose... the buildup is what makes the book so moving. If you are into romance with a purpose, but are not into graphic love scenes this is the book for you. Enjoy :-)
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I have mixed emotions about this book. While it was a good story, it felt like it would never end. I didn't mind the brief flash backs to help with the story, but by the end, it got annoying. I wouldn't take anything away from the story, but it did seem like it took forever for everything to come together.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator had several instances where she mispronounces words. It was annoying. I couldn't wait to finish the book. I also felt like I was listening to a grandma tell this story and not a middle aged woman. The narration took away from the story and at the end, I would've had a better experience reading the book.
This was a very different story than what I have read before. It was unique and I really enjoyed it. The narrator did a fantastic job.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Only the narrator. The writer wrote a good, clean romance that seems like real life.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator has no sense of pacing for the subject matter or proper change of expression. Most of the reading was too fast. Too many moments seemed like a jump to emotional expression but badly done...laughable actually. It gets a little better (or I just go used to it) by about half the way through. I'm pretty sure I've heard this narrator on another story. It was bad then. It's bad now. I'll definitely stick to reading only in the future when I see this narrator. The convenience of audio would be missed, but the story will be all the better.
All in all, this narration actually took away from the impact of the story.
