    "Very entertaining "
Where does Fool's Gold rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed this audible very much, how am I going to choose where this ranks on my list of audibles. I enjoyed it very much, but to rate it sorry, no two books are the same.

What did you like best about this story?

I like how Jake and Rich had to rebuild their friends/lovers relationship.
They have a bond that kept growing, even after years apart. Lovely.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Choosing one part would be so very hard. I really liked how the MCs worked out problems, working together again, the Author you can tell knows about horses, with the details given.

    Any additional comments?

Very well written, the characters are believable and came to life with the help of Gary Furlong it was nice to listen to a MM book without overdoing the sex, would recommend this to anyone, I will be listening to this again,

I was given this audible book, for an honest review. Which I can say I truly have.

    "Loved it!"

I loved this audiobook! The story of Rich and Jake was touching, sometimes painful, but throughout a beautiful story of perseverance, forgiveness, and love. I especially loved the way Jake's father was given a chance to redeem himself. I will definitely be looking for more books/audiobooks by this author.

The narration by Gary Furlong was excellent. He has a gift for delivering the emotions and attitudes of different characters and situations.

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

    Story
"Bonds between two men and a horse"

This was a wonderfully written story centered in the competitive world of horse showing and riding. Jake was an Olympic hopeful at the age of 20 when a tragic accident kills his two best horses, his boyfriend is severely injured and even he has some lingering effects. But Jake's wealthy father has learned that Jake is involved with a man and won't have it. He buys Rich off by offering to pay his medical and rehabilitation bills in exchange for breaking up with Jake and never seeing him again. Because he is poor, Rich reluctantly agrees. Cut to 8 years later and Jake is training for the Olympics once again when his trainer announces he has cancer. Tom contacts Rich, a trainer himself now, and asks him to fill in for him with Jake. Nervously, he agrees, believing they can be adults about the past and work as trainer and trainee only. How wrong he is....

Jake's father once again learns that Rich is back in Jake's life and goes ballistic, threatening to cut Jake off if he doesn't drop this "lifestyle."

What was great about this book is that Jake's father starts as a two dimensional rich blowhard, but becomes a three dimensional character as we learn he has only done the things he has done to protect Jake. Having lost his wife to cancer when Jake was 10, he is desperate to hang on to Jake, but just doesn't know how to relate to him or show his love, so he does so through his money.

The whole book was a wonderful insight into the horse world and the reunion of Jake and Rich did not go as smoothly as one might think. Their story was not an easy one and resentments were a problem between them. Great characters and a great story. Unfortunately, there are unanswered questions at the end. I'm hoping for a sequel?

And Gary Furlong was a wonderful narrator. He is from Ireland. I have heard him narrating some British stories and doing wonderful British, Irish and Scottish accents. Here he pulls off an American accent with great style. You would never know he is not American in any way if you had never heard him before.

Get this book and give it a listen. It's now one of my favorites and I'll be listening again soon!

    "Love and Horses"

This was a great story. I appreciated the romance (past and present) of Jake and Rich, and I loved their snark and sarcasm as much as their kindness and tenderness. It was sweet to see how much they each loved dogs, cats, and of course, horses. I found the descriptions of Jake's riding events fascinating, and I now want to watch more equestrian competitions. The main and secondary characters were brought to life wonderfully by both the author's words and the narrator's terrific performance; and I was easily able to picture the people, setting, and actions. I found myself hurting when Jake or Rich hurt, and smiling when they were happy. I enjoyed this story and highly recommend it!

    "Good book💕"

Fool's gold was a pretty emotional read. It was sad and sweet. Jake and rich are both involved in equestrian. Jake is on his way to the big time when something sad happens. Years pass before these two are reunited. I learned a lot about horses in this book. Jake and rich slowly find there way back together. I love second chance romances. It's low on the steam, and there's some angst and heartbreak, but it's all worth it in the end.i loved the feels I got from this book. I highly recommend it:)

"A lovely slow burn second chance book !!!"

I got this book as an e-book, when I had the chance to review the audio narrated by the fantastic Gary Furlong I jumped on the opportunity!!! Gary is an amazing narrator I had the pleasure of listening to on other M/M books and I was pleasantly surprised to discover he did not have a British accent in this one (the other books plots were in the UK). His smooth voice is full of emotion, each character is distinguishable from the other not only in tone and pitch but with the emotional weight he/she carries.

Plot wise this book was a joy to read! I love learning new things and well-built and researched books and reading Fools Gold truly hit all those spot on. And despite the amount of details regarding competitive horse riding in there is no point where it feels too much. This book is well put together it was impossible to put it down. There are many great Gay Romance books around but this one was also a great book on its own without relying on the sexy or relationship of the characters to lead it.
I loved Jack's tenacity, hardworking persona and his dedication. I also liked that the "villain" that at first glance appears to be a cliché of the M/M book genre has more depth and is given a chance to realize the error of his ways. Rich was an amazing guy, strong and unapologetic, not wallowing in his bruised ego or what happened in the past between him and Jack.
The best thing about this book to me was how real the pain and injuries were described. I distinctly remember reading about Jack having headaches after a hard day and totally feeling like the author described my own daily pain. That just brought it home to me, they are not super humans, they cannot do things the way they did before the injury and they needed to find new ways to operate and use their bodies. That was also unique in the m/m genre as many books with characters who suffered a life changing injury can still have sex marathons with little effect of their debilitating injured body. This too was that extra touch of realness I loved so much about this book that allowed me to relate to it as much as I did.

This is a fantastic slow burn second chance love story, but also a story about perseverance and inner strength. I am so happy I had the chance to read in on audio with Gary Furlong's amazing narration to carry me through the book.

"Really good story about second chances"
    Any additional comments?

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this story. There were a couple of things that stopped this from being a 5 star. I hated Donald & his change came on way too fast & felt unrealistic based on all the nastiness that spewed from his lips. Also, how did Jake do? I can use my imagination & he gets the gold but I would have liked that confirmation in black & white. Finally there was an inconsistency of who was topping whom. In the beginning Rich made a comment about taking Jake from behind, then a little later Jake is remembering himself topping and then in the end there is a big deal about Rich topping for the first time. Yes this is minor but it was a niggle. I loved that Argo was found, that brought tears to my eyes. Otherwise, this was a really good story of second chances. This is a new to me author & I will most definitely be looking at more of her stories.

    "A Starter Romance Story"

I'll say the book was VERY PG. There was some conflict and angst but nothing to get your blood boiling. It was interesting at time but I was disappointed that just when i got invested in the story, it wrapped up too fast too nice and too neatly. There was some "smexy time" but that was also very PG. The shining point of the story was the narrator. His voice matched the character and had that extra something to push the book to 3 stars. My final words: It was no Avon Gale or Lang Downs series but it will pass the time
