DONT BLINK OR ITS OVER!

Somehow I didn't know this book was all of 1 hour and a half, but in that short time, it was jam packed with action, humor, and hot lusty sex! It was good. For such a short story, the plot was sensible and kept me listening. If I'm being really honest, the hottie ex-Seal kept me glue to my headphones! I love a man that sees what he wants and goes for it! If the audio production was a bit better, I'd consider giving this 4-stars for sure. If this is on sale, totally worth it, otherwise, wait until there's a deal .

Awesome!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this book to my friends and family. I have read this book and also listened it in the audio version. I loved Hayden and Sierra's story, this book has it all romance, suspense, and very steamy.

What was one of the most memorable moments of First Surrender?

The most memorable moment of First Surrender was when Sierra got attacked at work. I loved how Hayden ran out to her and made sure that she was ok. I loved how Hayden finally admitted his feelings for Sierra.

Which scene was your favorite?

I had a couple favorite scene, the first one was when Sierra was looking for Hayden and she was told that he was on a date, she was upset when she saw Iris Christiansen, and Iris asked if she needed to kick Hayden's ass. I also loved when Hayden's brother told him to wait until next week to tell Sierra his feelings because there is a pool going around to when he finally admits it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Suspense that is hot and steamy!

Any additional comments?

I loved Ryan Hudson's voice, I was able to listen and stay involved in the story. His voice is smooth and sexy and was very enjoyable to listen to. This is the first book in the Serafina: Sin City Series. It is a wonderful start to a fantastic series.

A great beginning for this series

This novella introduces us to a new series by Ms Reus that promises to be another winner.
The story belongs to Chef Sierra and Hayden, a Security Specialist in one of the most exclusive hotels in Vegas.
They have become friends and secretly have had feeling for each other, but it isn’t until Sierra is assaulted , that these feelings are revealed.
Suffice is to say, the author compacts in the novella a sexy, full of suspense, action and romance. One that will keep your interest throughout the story.
Looking forward to more stories in this series.
I was gifted the audible. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Wonderful read but too short!

I loved everything about this book. The characters are great. What I wish was that we had gone back a little and listened to some scenes with them when they were friends. Also why he was discharged from the military. I just needed a little more here. Otherwise great as always from this author.

Love this Book

If you want a short book that just keeps you engaged and warms your heart, and has just a hint of mystery too it this is good for you. While very predictable, it is still a wonderfully written book that I completely enjoyed.

Awesome!

Katie Reus books are always enjoyable. This is the first book in the Sin City series, about the Serafina Hotel and it's employees. I like it. Very basic damsel in distress story, but the alpha maleness is what makes this story stand out. So smexy!

Great for a quick listen/read!

Narration was great... no complaints here... Great credit, or sale.

REVIEW:
Novella’s always leave me wanting more and Katie Reus’ First Surrender is no different. I wanted more of Hayden & Sierra. These two have been tip toeing around each other for a year. Neither knowing how the other truly feels. But when Sierra is attacked at work Hayden realizes that life is short and now is his time to make a move.

That is all you get. Because this is a novella my review is short too. But I did love this novella and can’t wait to see what Katie has in store for us next.

The narrator took me a little getting use to, but after that I really enjoyed his reading

perfect tone and presentation

The first book in the Serafina, Sin City series is a wonderful novella and one of the better introductions to an author’s work that I have experienced. My first option to review a Katie Reus title starts in a Las Vegas casino and features characters that are familiar (I am told) from her Red Stone Security Series.

Sierra is the head chef at the casino’s restaurant, and over the past year she and Hayden have formed a great friendship, although both have a closer relationship in mind. When she is attacked leaving work one night Hayden feels the need to step in and take care of her. Security is ramping up, and the questions about the ‘who’ and ‘why’ are on everyone’s mind.

Hayden didn’t want Sierra to be alone, so he brought her home with him. While his intentions were leaning to seduction, his absorbed claiming of her, the comfort he feels with her, and the desire to share thoughts, feelings and his past with her have him confused. Always attracted to her, he was more than a bit broken when he retired from his military service, and she was the only one to call him on his bad behavior. Unknown to him, she was also fantasizing about him, and wanting to get closer, the only thing stopping her was her own issues with self-esteem. Growing up she was in the shadow of her older sister, always feeling chubby and less, and still believed that men would want her sister, not her, for romance.

While there are a couple of steamy scenes, the more heartwarming moments are the honest communication and Hayden’s willingness to try to answer questions that are not easy, and his obvious desire to claim her for his very own.

Narration is provided by Ryan Hudson, and he manages to balance soft moments with the harsher responses or action scenes without over-acting or overly emphatic expletives, tone changes or voice manipulation to indicate the different characters. It’s the perfect tone and presentation for a story told predominantly in Hayden’s point of view, and feels natural.

My first Katie Reus book, and it will not be my last – she may even convert me from my lack of interest in ex-military stories, a trope that has never really stirred me to read.

I received an AudioBook copy of the title via AudioBook Jukebox for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
