Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Faking Friends by Jane Fallon, read by Sally Scott and Kristin Atherton.

Best friend. Soulmate. Confidante. Backstabber.

Amy thought she knew who Melissa was - then again, Amy also thought she was on the verge of the wedding of her dreams to her long-distance fiancé. When her career begins to unravel, she pays a surprise trip home to London. Her boyfriend Jack is out, but another woman has been making herself at home.... And that Other Woman is Melissa.

Amy has lost her job, her fiancé and her home in one disastrous weekend - but instead of falling apart, she's determined to get her own back. Piecing her life back together won't be half as fun as dismantling theirs, after all.

Didn't want it to end

I loved this book, read quite a few of Jane Fallons books and this is her best so far. If you like a good bitchfest revenge story then this is for you.

wonderful

This is a cracking listen. I enjoyed every minute. lots of twists. Only downside was I didn't believe the character was nearly forty. they all seemed to be in their late 20s.

Truly awful

With the exception of the latest Helen Fields book, I’ve downloaded some really duds lately.

This one is boring, patronising & fluffy (not in a happy feel good way).

Don’t waste your time. Got to the fourth chapter & couldn’t stand anymore.

Thank goodness for audible allowing you to return books you don’t like!

Easy listening but...

The concept of the storyline is great but I found some of the relationships unrealistic. There didn’t seem to be any conceivable bond between the main character and her best friend which lessened the impact of the crux of the story.

Nonetheless it was entertaining and easy to listen to.

Enter with a twist in the story. 100% chic lit tho'.

Narration brilliant. Story seemed to have a very real protagonist. Revenge is never sweet; growing up is!

Schadenfreude to the max

This was a good book and though it’s in the chick-lit genre it’s not at all cheesy (not that it has to be, but it’s typically a main ingredient for chick-lit). The story delves into a deep-rooted, toxic, best friendship between childhood friends and the elements that hold it together and tear it apart. It explores the meaning and recognition of genuine friendships and how “schadenfreude” is not and should never be in the mix. Overall, the story is solid, character development is great, and the ending is truly satisfying.

My first book by this author and really enjoyed the storyline and characters. Suspense builds, with some ups and downs for the main character along the way. Excellent narration.

The best revenge really is living well

Just listen to this book. I felt a bipolar level of emotions. I'm just so... satisfied with this story and the moral of it all.

An interesting journey into women and friendship

I was at first intrigued, then horrified, followed by disbelieving. I'm not sure if the conclusion was satisfying, but I'm glad I read this.
