Summary

Scholar Shannon Macaulay and the Dragon-Prince Ewan have been traveling together for a year when their blissful companionship is interrupted by a cryptic message from their friend Martin. "Come to Westshire. Edmond needs you."

Drawn to his brother's aid, Ewan finds himself hunting an elusive monster: a winged beast kidnapping young women and stealing their memories. Its latest victim is the Princess Brighid of Westshire, the very girl Edmond has recently fallen for, to the disapproval of her temperamental father, King Riley, and stoic brother, Prince Ryan. Ewan is determined to rescue his brother's beloved, no matter what the cost. But when Ryan's eyes fall upon Shannon, the dragon realizes the cost might be greater than he is willing to pay.

Great continuation

Like the first book, this is a bit heavy on the foreshadowing, though not as much as before. I really like the new characters that were introduced, especially Ryan. It's interesting to see the dynamic between him, Ewan, and Shannon. I wanted to dislike Ryan at first just because I usually don't appreciate any kind of love triangle, but he's a really complex and likeable character. I really enjoyed that this one started to go a bit more into detail with some of the 'magic' in this world, even if not much. I guess it is something that'd be hard to explain in detail, especially as complex as it seems. The ending was really emotional(and honestly, it made me cry even if I saw it coming a mile away).

I mentioned it in my review of the first book, but gotta say it again: the narration is amazing! The narrator puts so much emotion into her lines and I think it's the best part about what makes me immerse myself in the story and care so much about the characters.
