Summary

Dilly is devastated: with her husband unable to work and four children already at home, they cannot afford to feed their newborn baby. Heartbroken, she delivers her baby girl to the Farthing family, who have just lost their own daughter to measles.

This act of desperation will change the lives of both families irrevocably. But when the chance for true love finally comes, will Dilly choose family over her own happiness?

Lovely

I enjoyed listening to this story about two families, each with different lifestyles, and how their lives became drawn together. I found details of WW1 very sad and the story ended too abruptly that i wonder if there may be a sequel!

Good story

The storyline was good as were the characters, but the ending was extremely disappointing. Very well narrated bringing the characters alive.

Struggled!!

What disappointed you about Dilly's Sacrifice?

Not sure why - but really struggled to get into this story line it seemed to go on and on forever about something and nothing! Left it to one side with 2 hours listening to go.

Any additional comments?

Think this is one of the least enjoyable books i have ever listened to - even considered applying for a refund!!

Excellent saga

Highly recommended to all, don’t listen to the negative comments, if I’m honest I would have been overjoyed if this continued….

Story good, narrator very poor

The storyline is very good and I was really looking forward to knowing that there were a number of books in this series.
I sampled the narrator and although a bit twee, I thought it would be a good listen.

I lost count the amount of times I very nearly gave up listening - the narration is quite poor and so many emphases on the word “AND” with so many long gaps. A comma surely is not a place to put a three second silence into!

The narrator was almost shouting all the way through and that again was a big put off. I really don’t know whether I can cope with listening to the next books in the series, which is a real shame.
