Summary

In the third book of the Bluegrass Series, Paige Davies finds her world turned upside down as she becomes involved in her best friends' nightmare. The strong-willed Paige doesn't know which is worse: someone trying to kill her, or losing her dog to the man she loves to hate.

FBI Agent Cole Parker can't decide whether he should strangle or kiss this infuriating woman of his dreams. As he works the case of his career, he finds that love can be tougher than bringing down some of the most powerful men in America.

A suitable ending

Welcome back to all the familiar characters, some new and unexpected twists and of course the conclusion to the terrifying threat hanging over these beautiful and brave women. And welcome back to Eric G Dove who has, yet again, wonderfully captured the characters of this small town.
All the terror and tension was neatly tidied up and readers can feel sad at the thought of the end of this series but at the same time, happy that Brooks has already planted the seeds for the next series.
Brooks has definitely made it to my MUST HAVE list. In fact, I have already got the first two books of the next Bluegrass series waiting in my library!

Riveting. Unexpected. Exciting.

Another Heart Pounding Hit

What a neat series! My head wanted to spin when I saw these last two book's in the coming soon list. I jumped on them both and put them in my wish list. What a great way to end this particular story by using the main character's of Page and Cole in this episode. I have already listen to them multiple times. I will now be requesting the "Bluegrass Brother's" series. Which continues with Page's 5 brother's. Let's hope Audible will be able to get them for us.

Kentucky adventures

Thanks for reminding me how much I loved this series, it’s been forever since I read them but hearing them again was amazing.

Best part is that I have a whole bunch more to devour because I didn’t realize that the series went on from there.

Eric Dove is wonderful on suspense romance and I got hooked on his voice with another suspense author that I love.

Time enjoyably spent.

Great!

In the list of Kathleen Brooks books this is the last in the "Bluegrass" series. But in the next series "Bluegrass Undercover" is listed #4. It's confusing. "Dead Heat" # 3 tells the story of Paige and Cole and all the characters of Keeneston Kentucky. There isn't a Cliffhanger in this one and u do get an epilogue. This series has been delightful, funny, sexy, steamy, and some suspense with action. I've really enjoyed listening to Eric G. Dove's narration.
I'm also enjoying the Romance Package!! If u haven't signed up for it, u should. I've found New authors and narrator's. Now to get them to include more of Kathleen Brooks books in the package!

2.5 Rounded Up

This review will have spoilery stuff.

So this book was okay. The reason I've rounded up is because there were enough laugh out loud parts that I wasn't overly frustrated. It was mostly just "okay" though. Some major eye rolling parts. IE: Paige jumping to the conclusion that Cole was married because of some phone call deal. I didn't get it. Nor did I understand what the big deal was about him buying her a vacuum as a gift.

Narrator:
Eric G Dove- 3 stars- Mostly he's good, until the female parts (OTT) or the male parts (he sounds extra gruff, why not just continue in your regular voice?). His grunts and chuckles just pull me right out of the story, so I could do without those sound effects. I don't feel he's right as the narrator for the series, I feel a female would've been better. There are a lot parts of the book that were more from the female POV.

Recommended

The third story in the Bluegrass Series concludes the thread originated in Bluegrass State of Mind drama. The danger that brought McKenna Mason and then Danielle De Luca to Keeneston ,KY concludes with Paige witnessing the murderer as he attempts to kill Kenna & Dani.

I am having such a good time with the stories. It is difficult to put them down. The characters are great and well developed. As I write this, I'm so glad there are more stories to come.

Dead Heat

The narrator does such an amazing job bringing this book to life. He does excellent accents and voices.
I love the romance, suspense, and laughter that Dead Heat had. I was excited after reading books 1 & 2 to see how Paige & Cole's relationship was going to pan out.
