Perfect addition that's beautifully read

So I read this first in tree-book, then e-book and now on audio. On each reading I found different things I'd missed previously

If you've not read this quirky, funny, intelligent book give yourself a shake, go read it now. Though if you've not read the series I can recommend reading in order as each book, despite being a standalone story, has spoilers for the earlier ones.

Go on... go read...now!

Smart & Funny

This has been a hit and miss series for me, but I enjoyed this story very much. Marie & Matt are very likable characters, both are smart and funny and their relationship is a slow burn. There are check ins with other characters from the previous books which is always a nice touch. I would have enjoyed a little more from Matt’s POV, but overall a decent read.

Stand alone but should read others first

Most stand alone books in series briefly involve or reference previous characters. This book spends 1/2 time on the old characters and there are a lot of them. I felt it detracted from the story because there were so many players who I didn't know and didn't have investment in. The dialogue was prolonged in this way. Wanted more time with the main characters. Should read the other books first

superb!

Marie & Matt's heartfelt story, the news from the rest of the gang, the slow growth & burn, the permanent smile on my face, the anticipation, the truth, the sweetness, the sexiness, the cleverness of this book, the choice of Joy Nash as a narrator... Thank you, Mrs. Reid <3

Not my favorite from the series

Marie was annoying as HELL. She was annoying and too much on her head. I think what annoyed me the most was the fact that we got to hear every freaking detail about wanting to find love and I just couldn't take all the internal ramblings.

I'm all for a good nerd love story but this was painful. Matt was a decent counterpoint for Marie but I'm glad it's over. I liked getting updates on Janie and Quinn.

Another great story in the "Knitting Series!"

Penny has done it again with "Dating-ish."
I know it describes this book as a stand alone, but, unless you've read the other books in the series, you'll be confused and a little lost when it comes to the other characters and even how they relate to Marie.
We met Fiona and Greg's nextdoor neighbor, Matt, in the Ninja book (#5). He turns out to be the sometimes goofy, but often lovable leading male to Marie's heroine.
Reid scratches deeper than the surface with Marie and a uniquely defined character is discovered along with another great storyline. (They can't all be Janie)
Joy Nash brings back all the characters' accents. Unfortunately, she calls Sandra "Saundra" all through the book and you have to ignore her to be able to get past this error.
I think each book is a must read to get through the series and can't wait to listen to Kat and Dan's story next.

cute, sexy, funny...in a nerdy kind of way

Such cute characters! I had imagined Marie a little bit different from the other books in the series, but she still most of the diligent qualities that made her a good journalist. But, like most, professional success does not equal personal success. And that is probably why she, as well as Matt, we're so endearing in this story. Matt - with is social awkwardness and brainiac ways - was indeed a 'perfect match' for Marie.

Great narration by a well-established narrator, very enjoyable book.

Good one

I agree with two other reviewers - I can see how if you hadn't read any of the others in the Knitting in the City series this might feel a bit like an advertisement for the rest. I also haven't loved every single book in the series, (Nickoletta's accent disappears in this one! Yes!) but this one is fun and funny and endearing. It was good to catch up with everyone. I got a little frustrated with the two main characters in the middle for awhile, but I've learned to expect that in romances. I really enjoyed this one and continue to be impressed with Penny Reid's vast interests! I love learning about the things her characters are in to!
