Publisher's Summary

Syssi's paranormal foresight lands her a job at Dr. Amanda Dokani's neuroscience lab, but it fails to predict the thrilling yet terrifying turn her life will take. Syssi has no clue that her boss is an immortal who'll drag her into a secret, millennia-old battle over humanity's future. Nor does she realize that the professor's imposing brother is the mysterious stranger who's been starring in her dreams.

Since the dawn of human civilization, two warring factions of near-immortals - the descendants of the gods of old - have been secretly shaping its destiny. Leading the clandestine battle from his luxurious L.A. high-rise, Kian is surrounded by his clan, yet alone. Descending from a single goddess, clan members are forbidden to each other. And as the only other immortals are their hated enemies, Kian and his kin have been long resigned to a lonely existence of fleeting trysts with human partners. That is, until his sister makes a game-changing discovery - a mortal seeress who she believes is a dormant carrier of their genes. Ever the realist, Kian is skeptical and refuses Amanda's plea to attempt Syssi's activation. But when his enemies learn of the Dormant's existence, he's forced to rush her to the safety of his keep. Inexorably drawn to Syssi, Kian wrestles with his conscience as he is tempted to explore her budding interest in the darker shades of sensuality.

At 82,000 words, Dark Stranger: The Dream is a full-length novel but it is not a standalone. Kian and Syssi's story is a three-book series. In book four, Dark Enemy Taken, a new couple takes the center stage. Follow the cast of intriguing characters as they fall in love while fighting for the survival of their family, and get swept away into the world of The Children of the Gods.

"part one of a story/ book one"

did not realise it was part of a series and therefore found it short and wanting, just about a stand a lone book. it was read very nicely and the jump from one characters head to another was nicely done. I love the growing relationship.

As a audio book it will work out to costly for the series for me, I will look out for offers.

    "Uhhhhhh seriously????"

Absolute worst book EVERRRRRRRRR!!! It was like a train wreck. I couldn’t help but keep listening because I couldn’t believe a book could be this horrible!! It’s like listening to your drunk friend tell a really long story that ends up having no point and you realize you just wasted hours of your life that you will never get back!!! And the narrator!!!! I’m sure he’s a lovely man but it was painful.

    "Great start"

This was a good book to what I am forecasting as a great series. The narrator did a great job. He was not distracting in anyway and kept me engaged in the story. I only wish there was more sex.

"This is the "new extended" version?"

This Incomplete short story masquerading as a book is an outrage. imagine going to a movie and getting just the plot background and then it ends. The 5 star reviews are a setup. Don't know if this is the author's idea or the publisher's idea of how to make more money, but I will never buy again.

    "Repeat, repeat, repeat."

The entire book was a repeating dialog. Girl wants boy but can't believe he would want her so she has naughty dreams instead. He shows he's interested and she runs.

Boy has deep dark secret but wants girl anyway. Tries to stay away but can't. She pushes him away.

THE ENTIRE STORY IS a repeat of this. Over and over.

If you like this vampire/species formula try Lara Adrian Midnight Breed Series or Laurann Dinner New Species series. Much more satisfying reads

    "Eh"
What disappointed you about Dark Stranger: The Dream?

The narrator was not the right voice for this. He made the characters seem so old. I also felt the story line took way too long to develop and some of the details in it were just odd. Like they're in the middle of a tense scene and then theres commentary on how CC takes her coffee. I was always waiting to sink into it.

The book is very boring and predictable. Won’t be ordering more because I can already guess what is going to happen.

    "Didn't love it"

This wasn't what I was expecting, even after sifting through several reviews. The idea of these "near immortals" was exciting, even intriguing, but the book wasn't as well written as I would have hoped. At times, the content seemed shallow and unrealistic.

For my own personal taste, there was way too much cussing (I could have done without that) and there were several very explicit sex scenes.

The cliffhanger was well done... if not for the cussing, sex, and mediocre narration, I might consider reading the rest of the series to see how things turn out. I will say that it was mildly entertaining.

"Like having Optimus Prime read you a romance novel"

A decent story line and characters are starting to be well developed in this first novel. The reader has a voice like Auto Bots leader, Optimus Prime, especially when he reads as the male romantic lead. His voice is very low, gravelly, and almost mechanical. I was able to get past it, but others may find it a bit off-putting. Still looking forward to the follow up novel though. If the guy who does the voice of Megatron is looking for other voice work, he could read the female parts of the novel and turn this whole series into a Transformers read romance novels thing...could be a million dollar idea audible...just sayin’

    "Great book!"

The story is good. A little too explanatory in some chapters and it takes getting used to the voice of the narrator. It jumps from characters a lot but it's easy to follow the story line. Has cliff hanger which means I am hooked and had to buy the next gook. Good thing is not expensive! I can't wait to listen to the next one.
