Paige Cornish, a best-selling writer, is working on an exciting new project: a book about Hollywood action movies. When her research leads her to Avalon Randolph, a gorgeous, witty, and reckless actress, sparks fly between the two wildly different women. A playful narration from film and voice actress Kim McKean brings a lively energy to this lesbian romance, highlighting each character's distinct personality against the backdrop of Hollywood glamor. Intelligent, captivating, and sexy, Cut to the Chase is a compelling tale of desire between two very charming leading ladies.

Summary

While doing research for her third book about Hollywood, Paige Cornish meets Avalon Randolph, a sexy and wild actress who takes her on a rollercoaster ride - right down the red carpet. Writing about Hollywood is one thing, but living it is quite another. Personalities clash and boundaries are crossed as they navigate their attraction for each other through the exhilarating but precarious world of money and fame.

Can Paige and Avalon reconcile their differences and find a happy middle ground in a town that never lives in the middle?

Narrator ruined it

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who likes to hear stories read slower than a first grader learning to sound out words… The story itself is good. I had read this book a year ago and thought it was worth hearing again during my commute. Unfortunately I couldn't bare to finish the audio version and ended up re-reading the book instead.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narration was very slow paced, which on it's own I could have overlooked but unfortunately the vocal characterisations were poor. Little change between characters, internal dialogue was difficult to discern from external conversations, and even when conversations between characters was occurring it was still hard to tell who was supposedly talking.

Any additional comments?

Take this version down and have it re-narrated with Abby Craden or Nicol Zanzarella.

Watch out, the narrator is the murderer!

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Absolutely no idea if this is a 'whodunnit' or not, because the narrator murdered this within the first 3 minutes and I absolutely couldn't listen any further. It's a real shame as I was very much looking forward to hearing the book after reading the synopsis. I've never read anything by this author before so I can't even comment on her back catalogue. I'm thinking of buying the book so that I can read it myself. I really hate having to give a negative review, but unfortunately my 5 year old daughter could put more emotion into reading this book than the narrator so 0 out of 5. Awful. On the plus side, this did teach me to use the little triangle icon under each audiobook advert as it lets you listen to a snippet of the book before purchasing!!
