    "Two straight guys?"

Overall I enjoyed it especially the family issues and the way stuff with family cropped up. Mothers seem to cause biggest issues it seems!!

    "A great read"
Where does Crossroads rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best if not the best, certainly the best gay book I have ever read

Who was your favorite character and why?

The motor bike rider. I liked all the characters but he stood out for me especially when he went to his partner's mother towards the end

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several but after my comments above I really do not want to spoil it for anyone

    Any additional comments?

This is a nice steady easy listening book, gently written with an interesting story and well read. Some readers plough through with no feelings as to what is being read but this guy is very good, not too fast just with the right tempo for the story.

    "Improve by Audio"

Found the story 'okay' easy reading but a trifle ridiculous, an extra star for the sex not immediately being porn-star easy though. Characters are both likeable, banter is fun, families trope overkill.

Listening to the book made the difference. Seriously made a difference. Raised it a whole two stars. This is one definitely improved on by getting audio.

    "A real feel-good romantic read."

Two ultra decent seemingly hetero-sexual men discover a mutual love which overcomes family opposition and eventually blossoms into a full-blown sexual affair. Wow! The sex is pretty stand-up raunchy too. The reader is excellent and makes it spring to life. It kept me going well into the odd solitary night.

    "Double GFY - amazing narration"

Double GFY people! Yes! It sounds so fantastical, but it is SO WELL DONE! Riley Hart is an amazing writer and she absolutely manages to pull this off.

She spends a lot of time building the relationship (as friends) between the two guys and then showing us that with an open mind (and an open heart) the two can explore their feelings for one another physically as well as emotionally.

I loved the similar yet different reactions each man received from their families. Though Nick had only ever been with one person, his feelings for Bryce follow a similar pattern and it’s totally reasonable that his mother would think he’s jumping the gun again. It’s also fair that Bryce’s family would think his impetuosity is throwing him into another doomed to fail relationship.

But… both men are being true to their authentic selves. Just like the motorcycles, Bryce KNEW Nick was THE ONE. And just like his cooking Nick knows his own heart and has to trust it where it concerns Bryce.

The sex is OFF THE CHARTS hot! But … so is the love. These guys aren’t afraid to reach for one another emotionally and it’s so very sweet and tender.

I loved this book – gave myself a book hangover as I had to read it all in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down at 2 a.m.

    I can’t recommend this enough!

    Audio

Lord! The heat is SCORCHING. Sean Crisden does an absolutely perfect job with this narration! The feels, the smexy scenes, the humor… just perfect! I absolutely adored the book and the audio only makes it BETTER!

I cannot recommend this any more!

    "Bravo, Sean Crisden!"
    Any additional comments?

I'll be honest, when I first read this story I wasn't one of its scores of fans. I just didn't get all that into the story. I mean it was *okay* - but nothing I'd shout from the rooftops over, you know?

Then I got the audio. And holy WOW does Sean Crisden BRING THE HEAT.

I *LOVED* EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF THIS AUDIO BOOK! And it all boils down to Sean Crisden.

    Bravo, sir. Bravo!

When listening to this I bought their burgeoning bisexualism, Nick and Bryce's love for each other, and the ups and down of navigating not only a new relationship, but one so far outside of your previous comfort zone. I bought it all - hook, line and sinker!

    And I loved it.

    "Great GFY listen"

This was a great double GFY listen. The story is basically the journey of Nick and Bryce who are neighbors and discover through their friendship they have feelings for each other. Since both have been straight all their life, this comes as a shock to themselves, their friends and family. Some family members are supportive and some have a harder time. There is a little angst, lots of family drama, but mostly about them coming to terms with the relationship and what it means. Overall a well written, realistic story with great, engaging characters. Sean Crisden puts in a great performance and really brings the characters to life.

    "So Good"

This book was so good not because the love story is deep, which it is nor because it's so steamy you'll have to keep a fan blowing to ensure neither you nor your device overheats but because the voice is authentic.

This is no cookie cutter wham bam everything is hearts and rainbows. There is moments of true pain of sacrifices made for the one you love. There is strength and beauty gained from staying the course and believing that in the end what was meant to be will be.

It is a story filled with the realness of what it takes to make any relationship work and it is so beautifully told that by the end you'll be misty and have all the feels.

I have long loved Riley's work and this is proof of why.

    "Utterly Boring"
What would have made Crossroads better?

    A better narrator.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    Gotten a different narrator.

What didn’t you like about Sean Crisden’s performance?

OMG - it was awful. Honestly. There was nothing about the narration in this story that was redeemable. I'm blaming it all on the narrator because although there were many times I wanted to just turn the book off and start listening to something else, I did see it through to the end and I think it was because I wanted to see how the story itself turned out. But the narrator's voice creeped me out. Like, the sex scenes, which in other books of this genre tend to be hot and steamy, were in this book, just creepy - the tone of his voice, how he said things - ewww. I think with a different narrator these scenes could have been steamy like they were meant to be. But my god - in this book, with this narrator, they bordered on gross.

    Any additional comments?

I was really surprised reading all the good comments. I was really disappointed with this one.

    "Beautifully written and narrated"

I know there’s a lot of controversy over the GFY trope in the MM genre, but I really loved this one. So, if GFY isn’t for you, skip this one. However, if you love a story with lots of self-discovery, families in turmoil, and LOTS of scorching hot sex, don’t skip by this beautifully written book. This is as beautifully written as GFY gets, and it feels so real.
Nick is a chef. He’s recently divorced from his wife, his childhood sweetheart. He’s never loved anyone else, never had sex with anyone else, and never cared for anyone else, so when she cheated on him and then presented him with divorce papers, Nick was devastated. He’s recently bought a new house with a shared backyard. Nick owns a restaurant that is becoming successful, and that takes up most of his time and energy. Until he meets the guy who moves in next door and shares the backyard.
Bryce has bounced around a bit finding the right career for himself, until he discovered motorcycles and opened his own repair shop. He also works on bikes in his garage, and that’s where he and Nick actually meet. Bryce and Nick begin spending time with each other, getting to know one another, and find out they really enjoy each other’s company. Slowly, their friendship develops into something more, to their great surprise.
Both men have large families, so adjusting to being in a gay relationship involves more people than just Bryce and Nick. There is a small amount of angst in the book, mostly around family love and acceptance. A few secrets pop up here and there and have to be dealt with.
I listen to the audiobook while reading the ebook, which is my favorite way to enjoy books these days. Sean Crisden is one of the best audiobook narrators I’ve encountered, especially when there is a large cast of characters, men and women. He voices each person individually perfectly. This is a book and audiobook I highly recommend.
