Summary

Best friends Annie and Sarah need cash - fast. Sarah, a beautiful, successful lawyer, wants nothing more than to have a baby. But balancing IVF treatments with a grueling eighty-hour workweek is no walk in the park. Meanwhile, Annie, a Harvard-grad chemist recently transplanted to Southern California, is cutting coupons to afford her young autistic son's expensive therapy.

Desperate, the two friends come up with a brilliant plan: they'll combine Sarah's looks and Annie's brains to sell a "luxury" antiaging face cream to the wealthy, fading beauties in Annie's La Jolla book club. The scheme seems innocent enough, until Annie decides to add a special - and oh-so-illegal - ingredient that could bring their whole operation crashing to the ground.

Hilarious, intelligent, and warm, Crimes Against a Book Club is a delightful look at the lengths women will go to fend for their families and for one another.

Very entertaining

One of the best narrated books I have read thus far. The narrator actually adds character to the voices. The storyline was fun and entertaining and quite unique.

you've got to read this!

This is the funniest and most delightful book into the minds of rich old women I have ever read. It's deliciously tongue in cheek story by a person who must know these women so intimately as to transform such characters into flesh and blood neurotics. I loved it.

Book Club?

ROSE SAYS I do like the story. ROSE EXPLAINS It's fun and and endearing. ROSE SHAKES HER HEAD but the direction in this book is annoying. ROSE TYPES it sounds like a lot of the extra words are computer generated and do not flow with the book. ROSE EXPLAINS the thoughts and explanations flow well, but anytime there is an ANNIE SAID or SARA GRIMACED it's loud and doesn't fit. ROSE IS ANNOYED... it's annoying. One other thing. I don't think the title matches the book. Yes, they met each other through a book club, but there was like two meetings then the rest of the story is about the people involved.

Delightful and fresh

Loved it. Loved the story, the writer's use of imagery, her grasp of women's insecurities ( no matter how baseless the insecurities are) and most of all- loved the narration. I miss the characters already. I am now going to look for more of her books. Hopefully she has written more! Well done.

LOVED the narration!

Looking at previous reviews, it seems you will either love or hate this narration, but I thought it was so perfect! There was so much emotion behind the characters and Katherine Kellgren transported me into their world. I think I had a permanent smile (except in the part I cried) through to whole thing! Fun chick lit story line too.

Light-hearted Entertainment

Enjoyed the book. It’s not a heavy read. It’s nice if you want something to listen to on vacation, but don’t think too hard about it or you’ll see the holes in the story. Narration is mostly good although annoying on occasion.

An easy dash of entertainment

Any additional comments?

There were times that the narrator really drove me crazy with the way she did her voices but overall I thought this book was highly entertaining. Even with the sometimes over accentuated voices I can't imagine enjoying this book as much reading it myself. The narrator certainly grew on me and really added to the overall experience. I caught myself laughing out loud several times. It was a nice break from all the suspense/thrillers I've been reading lately. If you need a light, easy and funny read - this book is for you.

Great Story but that narrator

I loved the story, it was great. It was fun and witty, it even had me laughing out loud at times. But the narrator, she sounded robotic at times. It took me out of the story.
I still loved the book, but I won’t be buying another audiobook narrated by Katherine Kellgren
