"Story About Love, Loss and Finding One's Way"

Most romances are about the initial meeting and love between two people. It usually ends with a HEA. Reality is that this is when the hard stuff comes in and most relationships are only as good as the commitment, trust, respect, communication, etc. it is built on.

This book is about a married couple who lost their 6 year old son to leukaemia one day before Christmas. It is one year later and they are struggling in their relationship, grief and Christian faith. They have come to a cabin to give their relationship a fighting chance. Just when they are connecting, at least physically, they are stranded in a snow storm with a little boy and his puppy. Their guests, as only children can do, bring the couple out of their comfort zone and force them to really consider themselves. There is always room for growth, the possibility of second chances and the potential for a Christmas miracle.

The story is touching and sweet. Rachelle Ayala creates realistic characters, which makes it easy to relate to them. Definitely Christmas feel-good vibes!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Warning: do not listen to around people, you are guaranteed to shed tears several times. This such a beautiful story of heartache, letting go of anger and of restoration. The narrator also did a great job. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing

    "Very emotional read!"

This was a well written but hard to listen to story. I would highly recommend you listen to it in private, for me this was not one to listen to at work. You get drawn into this short story very quickly, and you can't stop listening once you start! The subject matter tears at your heart, but stick with it and this is one of the HEA that will stay with you for a long time! You will experience the best characters any time you read/listen to one of the authors books and this is no exception. I thought the narrator was really good at bringing personality to this story!

    "Wonderful Story About Christmas Miracles"

This sweet Christmas novella brought me to tears more than once. Juliette and Gabe are staying at a small cabin for Christmas, barring themselves away from the holiday the rest of the world is celebrating. Their little boy passed away at Christmas last year, and facing the holiday music and cheer is unbearable. Waking up after a huge snowstorm, they find a lost little boy and his puppy, and slowly they begin to heal.

This was an absolutely wonderful story about Christmas miracles. Rachelle Ayala writes about the loss of a child in a realistic way and my heart ached for Juliette and Gabe. I listened to the whole book in one sitting, and the ending was a surprise and a pleasure. It was so heartwarming and hopeful.

Kate Marcin did a great job with the narration. There are accents and small singing parts, and she performed them all perfectly. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

    Any additional comments?

This is such a wonderful story of loss and forgiveness. Juliette and Gabriel are going to a cabin for Christmas. It's been a year since the tragic death of their 6 year old son, Jeremiah. Juliette has terrible feelings of loss and doesn't want to celebrate Christmas ever again and this is causing problems in their marriage to the point that they may divorce. A snowstorm traps them at the cabin and they find a little boy, Patrick and his dog, Puppy. Juliette tries to steel herself against feelings for Patrick and Puppy. You'll have to listen to find out how they help heal Juliette and Gabriel. This is a wonderful Christmas story that can be listened to at any time of the year since it has a timeless lesson. Rachelle Ayala has a real gift for telling these stories and Kate Marcin has done a great job narrating. I received a free copy and am giving this review in exchange.

    Story
    "A sweet Shristmas novella"
What did you love best about Christmas Stray?

I love the fact that the story is full of hope and doubt at the same time. The story has a natural flow and the story is easy to follow. There is so much feelings in it.

I love the mix of Christmas, children, pets (in this case a dog), and the normal family problems and how someone can overcome something. We all need a little miracle and nothing says miracles more than Christmas.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Christmas Stray?

When Juliette decided to let everything go and start over, cooking, singing christmas carols and burning the breakfast.

What about Kate Marcin’s performance did you like?

Her voice is calm and he read the book naturally and she really did make the story come to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it is not the longest book/novella so it was no problem listen to it in one sitting. It was also hard to stop listening to it when you finally started.

    Any additional comments?

Bringing the amazing story of hope to more people!

    "Do you believe in miracles?"

While many think the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year, there are still some who find it difficult to deal with for a variety of reasons. In Christmas Stray by Rachelle Ayala, narrated by Kate Marcin, Christmastime is not something Juliette has been looking forward to because it comes with the painful memories of losing her 6-year old son. In addition, this sadness is creating wedge between her and her husband, Gabe. It's going to take a miracle to turn this around! This is where Stray #1 & #2 enter the scene! Find out if they are able to help Juliette find love, happiness, and peace once again.

This feel-good, inspirational story is great for a variety of ages, teens on up! Not only does it inspire, but it gives hope in times of despair and faith in times of need. Rachelle Ayala's writing has a way of pulling me in and keeping me engaged through the last page. At just under 2 hours Christmas Stray is a must-read!

Kate Marcin's narration gave the characters personality and voice. She did a very nice job and helped put me in the scene, as well as the minds and hearts of the characters, especially Juliette. I'm sure this book is a lovely read, but being able to listen to it made it that much better. :-)

Overall, I give this audiobook a rating of 5/5 stars. If you are looking forward to the holiday season and enjoy shorter, touching books about family, love, loss, and miracles, then Christmas Stray is the one for you!!

Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. :-)

    Story
    "Christmas Stray"
Where does Christmas Stray rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is my favorite audiobook to listen too. It's one that will become a Christmas tradition to listen to every year. (and maybe any time of the year when you need an uplifting story of hope)

What about Kate Marcin’s performance did you like?

Kate did a wonderful job of making the characters come alive and her narration of each of the voices was perfect. I felt the emotion of the grieving, frustrated parents and the innocence and sweetness of little Patrick . Her singing was also enjoyable! :)

If you could take any character from Christmas Stray out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would have to invite the whole family including Patrick the elf. Each of them have their own interesting and deeply moving story to share. Maybe, instead of going out for dinner, I'd have to cook for them so puppy could come too.

    Any additional comments?

What a beautiful, sweet, touching story! It doesn't have to be Christmas time to enjoy this wonderful book. Little Patrick and puppy will warm your heart and the story will make you believe in Christmas miracles. It moved me to tears and was so heartwarming.

    Story
    "Merry Christmas!!"

No one prepared me for this novella. I love Christmas stories, and when I started to listen to this one, I was all ready to have Christmas in September..then the plot started, and the heartache with Juliet and Gabe dealing with the death of their son, trying to get their life back on track and would it be together. This is not happy, this is not singing Christmas carols!!! Then...Rachelle Ayala takes the story and completely turns it around. The introduction of Patrick and Puppy creates a healing process for all the parties involved, turning a sad time of year in the middle of a blizzard into the changing of lives. Rachelle Ayala has a way of creating this story giving you so many feels and emotions(yes, you will tear up!) in the end making you smile!

The narration of this book by Kate Marcin was pure perfection. She had each voice, each feel and every emotion spot on for me. I was feeling everything as she performed this short and will definitely look for more of her narrations.

    Story
    "Heartwarming"

Oh my goodness! Be sure to have a box of Kleenex handy...maybe two boxes. This story started me out crying and had me crying, happy tears, at the end. What a beautiful story!

Juliet and Gabe are married but things have not been well for them since they lost their son. They go away for a Christmas that Juliet can't bear to celebrate. At the cabin they find a child and a dog that change their lives.

I don't want to give away the entire story so I am being vague. This is a beautiful Christmas story of heartbreak, grief, healing and hope that makes it heartwarming.

I really loved Kate Marcin as the narrator. I loved her as Patrick and was so pleasantly surprised by her singing voice. I wish she could have sang an entire Christmas Carol.

It is a Christmas story you definitely want to have for winding down on a cold December day.If you are like me and enjoy Christmas anytime of the year, this is a book that will bring you the magic of Christmas, regardless of the time of the year.
