Publisher's Summary

Something's brewing between friends.

Rachel Miller knows opening a café with coffee and pastries will make her struggling bookstore the place to hang out. But when the bank turns her down and her best friend Shane steps in, she vows business will never ruin their friendship.

Gourmet ice cream maker Shane O'Hare knows food, not women. To sweep Rachel off her feet, he secretly sells his beloved '67 Shelby Mustang and becomes a partner in her café. And then she sets him up with a friend.

As they build the café together and Rachel learns what Shane has sacrificed for her, she finds herself falling for him. Now way too much is riding on the success of this business venture - her career, her best friend, and her heart.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the friends to lovers story line! I am a sucker for those!

Which character – as performed by Charles Lawrence – was your favorite?

    Shane! I adored Shane!

If you could take any character from Bad Taste in Men out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Rachel! She owns a book shop and who better to give me awesome book recommendations?

    Any additional comments?

I loved Shane and Rachel's story! I loved that they grew gradually from friends to lovers. I loved that Shane didn't let Rachel pretend that they were only friends anymore. It was just a great story and I loved the pop ins from previous characters too!

    "Delicious!"
Would you listen to Bad Taste in Men again? Why?

Yes! As a bookaholic, I have kept hundreds of my very favorite reads so that I can revisit characters that touched my heart and made my toes curl. It's like buying your favorite flavor of ice cream time and again because your taste buds can't wait to taste that yummy experience again. I know I can recreate the magic of falling in love again, and audio books that are stored on my tablet take up a lot less room. I love the comedic side of life and I really enjoy Kylie's interpretation of the silly side of love.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the close sibling relationship between Ryan, Travis and Shane, who are always ready to lend a hand, give advice, and torment each other with memories from the past. I also like how protective the brothers are with their grandma Maggie, who took them in and did an awesome job of making them the men that they are today. We see the same relationships between Ryan and Travis's wives who happen to be sisters, and Shane's girlfriend Rachel and her sister. Family relationships and shared experiences are the heart of this series.

What does Charles Lawrence bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to Charles Lawrence narrating a book is like the difference between black and white TV and color TV. The characters all have different quirks and personalities and Charles acts them out with a change of voice so effortlessly it's like magic. Listening to him describe Shane's love of cooking, baking, development of ice cream flavors, and the coffee making tutorials was deliciously descriptive. I swear I could smell the flavors of this book through Charles' voice alone. I especially enjoy the enthusiasm Charles conveys during sexy scenes that always make me giggle with delight!

Who was the most memorable character of Bad Taste in Men and why?

Shane, of course! He's sensitive, intuitive and oh-so patient with Rachel while she gets over the bozos she's dated in the past. He's a fabulously talented chef and baker, and he develops all his own recipes for the different flavors of ice cream he serves at his ice cream store. I admired his empathy toward both of his flawed parents, and the example he sets for his brothers when he reconciles with his father once his dad reaches 3 years of sobriety. He's a great guy and there were times when I wanted to strangle Rachel because it takes her a very long time to appreciate what a good man Shane is and how much he loves her.

I love this Clover Park series and the fabulous and comedic writing of Kylie Gilmore!

"He's easy-going, She has to be in control."
If you could sum up Bad Taste in Men in three words, what would they be?

    Tasty, sexy and delightfully surprising.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked Shane's character. He surprised me a few times a different parts, mostly b/c he is so easy-going.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I love the part where Maggie takes Rachel to see the Shelby Mustang. She wanted Rachel to see exactly what Shane sacrificed for her and why.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did want to sit and listen in one sitting. And I would have if I had the time, but I have a six year old and could not, much to my dismay.

    Any additional comments?

You will love this book. There are many irritating parts, mostly where Rachel's stubborn streak plays out. But all of it comes together in the end for a lovely realization by the two main characters. Charles Lawrence, of course, played his part in the narration. He was great to listen too, and he made the characters come to life again. If you are reading/listening to this as the first book...you must go back and read/listen to the ones that come before it. The Opposite of Wild and Daisy Does it All. I hope you enjoy this narration of Bad Taste in Men as much as I have. Enjoy!

I loved listening to this book. I love all of Kylie Gilmore's books. Good to audible has been great. I was able to listen to this book in the car when the kids was watching a movie and we was going down the road on vacation. Charles Lawrence does a fantastic job narrating this book. I loved every second of it and his voice. Kylie Gilmore did a great job picking Mr. Lawrence to read this book.
Now this book is about Shane who happens to be in love with Rachel who has had a lot of bad relationship. So she want Shane to stay her friend. When she is try to start a new business to help her book star Shane thinks that is the best way to help. Until she want everything to be her way. Will she ever trust Shane as more than friends? You will have to read the book or listen to it to find out.
Go all in and get both the book and the audible book. works great together but if you are always on the go just listen to it. It is a fantastic book and part of a great series. Thank you Kylie Gilmore for the great book and Charles Lawrence for the awesome way you read it.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Clover Park series written by Kylie Gilmore and narrated by Charles Lawrence. Rachel Miller knows opening a café with coffee and pastries will make her struggling bookstore the place to hang out. But when the bank turns her down and her best friend Shane steps in, she vows business will never ruin their friendship.Gourmet ice cream maker Shane O'Hare knows food, not women. Now way too much is riding on the success of this business venture her career, her best friend, and her heart.

The narrator Charles Lawrence did a wonderful job with this book. He did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

    "Fan freaking tastic"

Rachel seems to have the worst taste in men. The only good man in her life is her friend Shane. Shane is head over heals in love with Rachel but is patiently bidding his time because the Rachel isn't ready and keeps him at a distance. She's worried things won't work out between them and would rather have his friendship thAn nothing at all. When Rachel decides to start a coffee shop and needed financial help, Shane makes a huge sacrifice to help her achieve her dreams and never says a word about it. As the two find themselves attracted to each other and testing the limits of their relationship both personal and professional, things start to heat up. He's always been in the background looking out for her and would do anything to make her happy and she begins to find out what he's done and has conflicting emotions about whether to push him away or hold on to him with all she's got.

    "Great!"

Another great story in the series!! Shane is all kinds of yummy! Rachel is slightly annoying at times but she comes around. These two are great friends and Rachel doesn't want to do anything to hurt that relationship but Shane is looking for more. He always has been and now is the time to do something about it. This book takes us along for the crazy ride as their relationship works it way from friends to business partners to lovers. Problem is Rachel doesn't have faith that she can really sustain a relationship with any man so she fights Shane at every turn. Will she be strong enough to really give them a try??

I listened to this one on audio and loved it! The story is great and the narration is excellent. This is one I highly recommend.

"Bad Taste in Men by Kylie Gilmore"
What did you like best about Bad Taste in Men? What did you like least?

    I really liked Shane's character

Would you be willing to try another book from Kylie Gilmore? Why or why not?

Yes. I've read several and look forward to reading more.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The home tasting by Shane"s family of possible menu items for the new cafe.

Do you think Bad Taste in Men needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I feel bad for Janelle. And Barry. Looking forward to books featuring those characters.

    Any additional comments?

BAD TASTE IN MEN by Kylie Gilmore is the third book in her Clover Park series and this one features the town's sexy ice cream store owner, Shane O'Hare. Shane is Ryan and Travis's younger brother. Shane is all kinds of dreamy and any woman would be thrilled to have his attention but he has his heart set on Rachel. Rachel is Liz O'Hare's best friend and owns the failing Bookstore in town. Rachel is a mess and has never been successful with anything... jobs or relationships. So she panics when the thought of her friendship with Shane might be at risk if they become anything more and that also fails well, let's just say he shows more patience than any man should be expected to. I love Kylie's books and love the town of Clover Park and its characters, but I have to say that I struggled through with this one because of Rachel. I kept hoping she'd pull her head out... and she finally did, but not until the very end. Shane on the other hand made me glad I continued on. He deserved his happy ending. 3.5 stars.

*I listened to the audiobook version of this one and the narrator did an excellent job.
