Summary

Life in the Glasgow tenements was never easy, but life for Beth is becoming increasingly harsh. In wartime, everyone grabs what brief happiness they can and, in Beth's case, she finds herself drawn to Steve, a flying ace. Their relationship blossoms, but fate deals Beth a cruel hand when Steve is killed in action, leaving her pregnant.

my first written review

A brilliant story, very hard to put down, I was there in the story right from the start. The narrator reads at a pace that is good to listen to, and her voice is pleasing.
The story of a young girl, her struggles and hardship, loves and losses keeps you absorbed in this audio book. I can't recommed this highly enough.
