Summary

This is the remarkable story of one endearing dog's search for his purpose over the course of several lives. More than just another charming dog story, A Dog's Purpose touches on the universal quest for an answer to life's most basic question: why are we here?

Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden-haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey's search for his new life's meaning leads him into the loving arms of eight-year-old Ethan. During their countless adventures, Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog. But this life as a family pet is not the end of Bailey's journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders - will he ever find his purpose?

Heartwarming, insightful, and often laugh-out-loud funny, A Dog's Purpose is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog's many lives but also a dog's-eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man's best friend. This moving and beautifully crafted story teaches us that love never dies and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.

Better than the movie.

I loved the film, never realised it was actually a book first! Book goes more deeper than the movie did. If anything the ending is far better than the movie, but a LOT more sadder :-(

The audio book is well narrated. Parts had me smiling and also laughing out loud, equally offset by sadness.

If you enjoyed the film definitely would recommend this book.

The most stupid book ever !!!

Though the story is very well read and has some nice flow, the content is rediculous! If it is supposed to be fantasy, it is of the worst kind; no where imaginative. This is 'told' as a true story and in that utmost ludicrous. In no way like any dog would think, live or behave. A disgrace for any dog.

Fantastic book

This book touches all of your emotions, it made laugh out loud and made me cry too. It is so well written, dog lovers especially will love it but I think most people would enjoy it.

Thought provoking, tear jerking.

This was my first audible book and I wasn't disappointed. I found it hard to put down.
Don't be put off by the narrator's voice. Broken neatly into different mini-stories. Would thoroughly recommend.

If You’re A Dog Lover It’s A Good Listen

At the start I really didn’t know what to make of it, but about a quarter of the way in I got hooked.

It’s a clever take on the traditional tale of dog/human relationship, and I was saddened when it ended as I could’ve listened to the tale forever. It’s beautifully told with a great narrator.

I often listened to this while walking my own Staffie, Sam, which somehow made the story all the better.

Just beware, if you think it won’t hit you in the feels because it’s that same old Hollywood tale of a dog etc etc.... it’ll get you. It got me as I was driving! I shed a few tears, and then when I arrived at my girlfriends house I was telling her how it caught me off guard and how that section of the book reminded me of a previous dog I had and then I was nearly in tears again!! Stupid book!..... well..... great book actually.

My heart is all the better for listening to this, I think yours will too.
