Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of A Country Escape by Katie Fforde, read by Jilly Bond.

Fran has always wanted to be a farmer. And now it looks as if her childhood dream is about to come true.

She has just moved in to a beautiful but very run-down farm in the Cotswolds, currently owned by an old aunt who has told Fran that if she manages to turn the place around in a year, the farm will be hers.

But Fran knows nothing about farming. She might even be afraid of cows.

She's going to need a lot of help from her best friend, Issi, and also from her wealthy and very eligible neighbour - who might just have his own reasons for being so supportive .

Is it the farm he is interested in? Or Fran herself?

Awful narrating

I can’t even Finnish the book as the narrator is reading it like it’s a children’s book and I am 5 years old!! Awful

Lovely story but dreadful narration

This was my first Katie Fforde book and I loved the story but the narration was dreadful - so bad I gave up before the end. I’ll buy the written version to find out what happened!

I have been reading Katie Fford for years and the is the first book that felt really formulaic

Disappointed story with nothing really happening to elevate it from the hum drum. Was not a fan of the narrator felt she really struggled with the male voices.

enjoyed the story, not the right narrator

the narrator had a far older tone than the character of the book should of had, changing the feel and pace of the book. story was good!

Whinging tone ; with no development to basic story

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Different narrator who made the characters very prissy, but this was also the fault of author who seems out of date. The basic polt and ideas are continuously repeated and it seems to be reliant on cut and paste themes and lines, instead of developing the plot or characters.

What was most disappointing about Katie Fforde’s story?

lack of development.

What didn’t you like about Jilly Bond’s performance?

The voice was petulant.

Feel good story

Another great Katie Fforde story.
A little typical but a great feel good story. Very easy to listen to and not want to put down

A sweet romance

Like all Katie Fforde's novels, this is well written with sympathetic characters and a happy ending!

Very well written and narrated

Couldn't wait to get to the end.
Didn't give it 5 stars as the story was good but not tricky. It was very easy to get sucked into the story, get attached to or very annoyed with the characters and wanting justice.
