Summary

Fearless takes you deep into SEAL Team SIX and straight to the heart of one of its most legendary operators.

When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan - but he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me.”

Long before Adam Brown became a member of the elite SEAL Team SIX - the counterterrorism unit that took down Osama bin Laden - he was a fun-loving country boy from Hot Springs, Arkansas, whose greatest goal had been to wear his high school’s football jersey. An undersized daredevil, prone to jumping off roofs into trees and off bridges into lakes, Adam was a kid who broke his own bones but would never break a promise to his parents.

But after high school, Adam fell in with the wrong crowd, and his family watched as his appetite for risk dragged him into a downward spiral that eventually landed him in jail. Battling his inner demons on a last-chance road to redemption, Adam had one goal: to become the best of the best - a US Navy SEAL.

An absorbing chronicle of heroism and humanity, Fearless presents an indelible portrait of a highly trained warrior who would enter a village with weapons in hand to hunt terrorists, only to come back the next day with an armload of shoes and meals for local children. It is a deeply personal, revealing glimpse inside the SEAL Team SIX brotherhood that also shows how these elite operators live out the rest of their lives, away from danger, as husbands, fathers and friends.

Fearless is the story of a man of extremes, whose courage and determination was fueled by faith, family, and the love of a woman. It’s about a man who waged a war against his own worst impulses and persevered to reach the top tier of the US military. Always the first to volunteer for the most dangerous assignments, Adam’s final act of bravery led to the ultimate sacrifice.

Adam Brown was a devoted man who was an unlikely hero but a true warrior, described by all who knew him as fearless.

Like pulling teeth

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

If you like being preached to by a christian audio book then this is for you. Everything is gods will, even the drug addiction. oh dear, oh deary me

What will your next listen be?

Scott Jurek the ultra marathon runner

How did the narrator detract from the book?

If like me you saw this book and thought it was going to be an insight into one mans remarkable achievements then think again. You can just skip cd 1, 4 hours of poor boy done good sob story)

Its preachy beyond belief (produced on Christian audio)

It took more will power to listen to it than it did the Navy Seal to fumble through his life.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fearless?

Remove all of CD 1 and a big part of Cd 2. The 8 hour audiobook could have gone into 1-2 hours max

Any additional comments?

I cant get my time back wasted listening to this

Inspirational...and real.

This is an amazing story of an amazing man and his family. If your looking for something to inspire you look no further. This story of a man with a "can do" attitude will stay with me for life. The strength of his family and wife just adds to the story.. If that wasn't enough you get to see a glimpse of the brotherhood, which is the Naval Seals. Full credit to everyone involved and respect to all. Please don't forget when reading this, that this actually happened.... Thank you for telling this great story.

A story about an amazing person.

It's easy to eulogise a person, especially when they are a celebrity. This book has been such an amazing experience to both read (on the Kindle) and to listen to as an audiobook. The narration is great with different and distinctive accents (but in no way off putting) to portray Adam and all who knew him. One reviewer I have come across recently (I can't remember where), states that the book will change the way you look at things. The reviewer I believe was a veteran Green Beret. All I can say is that this book has made a massive impression on me. The biography deals with a man who had to fight his own worst demons that included cocaine addiction and personal social challenges of fitting in socially in his university years. The extent of his addiction was extreme and yet the story exemplifies that his family and faith (he was a Christian) could make him achieve anything. He joined the navy and eventually passed the US Navy DEVGRU (Seal Team 6) selection with a crippled hand and only one functional eye- that is just difficult to grasp. This is a human story of a person who relied on his faith and family to thrive and do his best despite a permanent biological addiction to drugs and multiple injuries of a long spanning service career. You find out he does manage to cope with his issues and still excel in being both a family man and a tier-1 special forces sailor. The resounding message was that he never quit anything that he set his mind to. He was tasked to kill and yet he had shown compassion to his friends (saving his best mate from a gun shot wound) and to the children and women in the war zones he fought in. One touching chapter in the story relates to how when he was on mission, instead of asking for his wife to send him a 'goody' box, he instead requested that she and his family buy children's shoes as the Afghan children would have had cold feet from the snowy weather. I think that the story will appeal to both men and women. I hope you find this helpful. H

A struggle to stick with

No doubt an extraordinary guy but really not what I was expecting. A chapter on God, lots of non-seal team talk... And what's with the stupid voice when reading a womans part?

Highly recommended

I’ve read fearless three times and now I’ve just finished the audiobook too and it’s excellent .. the narration is perfect.
Adams story is incredible and deeply moving, I’m a grown man who doesn’t get emotional but I tear up every time I hear his story, not because it’s so sad although it is but because Adams life was one of being incredibly strong and determined but he loved people and was so gentle and kind, his story challenges me on so many levels to be a better man and love people and push forward in Gods power towards whatever he has for me.
It’s also a fascinating look into the Seals and Seal Team 6. I think it’s a great book for any human to read

Utterly awesome

So far the best book I have listened to on audible.
Adam brown was clearly a unique special and definitely fearless man. I have the utmost respect for him, Kelly, Nathan and Savannah and his parents too and all his comrades.
He was a total legend one to aspire towards in his devotion to Jesus Christ and following His truth I all areas of His life. A wonderful testimony of Gods love, strength and utmost honour.
May this story reach far and wide. In Jesus name I pray.

Heartbreaking story of a brave man

What did you like best about Fearless? What did you like least?

The story behind a brave man who conquered his own demons and shows that the military can change your life for the good. But only if you want it too

Would you be willing to try another book from Eric Blehm? Why or why not?

Yes a good story teller and doesn't try to be to technical.

Did Paul Michael do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Very good job, some narrators can make all the difference this man does and keeps you listening and doesn't, put you to sleep

Did Fearless inspire you to do anything?

Well I ain't going to join the Seals if thats what you mean.
