Summary

John Cleese’s special introductions to each episode are included in this collection of all 12 TV soundtrack episodes.

Welcome to Fawlty Towers, where attentive hotelier Basil Fawlty and his charming wife, Sybil, will attend to your every need - in your worst nightmare. With hapless waiter Manuel and long-suffering waitress Polly on hand to help, anything could happen during your stay - and probably will.

Every episode of both TV series is included in this soundtrack collection: 'A Touch of Class', 'The Builders', 'The Wedding Party', 'The Hotel Inspectors', 'Gourmet Night', 'The Germans', 'Communication Problems' 'The Psychiatrist' 'Waldorf Salad', 'The Kipper and the Corpse', 'The Anniversary' and 'Basil the Rat'.

Co-starring with John Cleese as Basil are Prunella Scales (Sybil), Andrew Sachs (Manuel), Connie Booth (Polly) with a supporting cast including Ballard Berkeley, Bernard Cribbins, Joan Sanderson, Geoffrey Palmer, Nicky Henson and Ken Campbell.

These classic recordings were made between 1975 and 1979 and the content of the programme reflects the era in which it was broadcast.

What did you expect from an audiobook

To the last reviewer;

What did you expect from an audiobook?

The hanging gardens of Babylon perhaps?

Herds of wildebeest streaming majestically across the water?

It kinda works and kinda doesn't

it's audio directly taken from the TV show with additional narration to paint the picture.

One of the Greatest Comedies of all time

This works for audio very well, because the scripts are so strong. Maybe like me you remember the television anyway, so what I found was that as I listened the scenes played out in my mind triggered by the audio.

I laughed out loud many times.

All episodes are here, with introductions by John Cleese

Hilarious

Listening to this brought back so many memories. As I listened I could see the actors in my mind from watching the tv series. Great to relive on audio.

Classic

Comedy gold. But nobody needs to be told that. Brilliant comedy that can be enjoyed over and over again.

Classic comedy at its best

A joy to listen to all episodes again- particularly my favourite Communication Problems- and their being introduced by John Cleese was a bonus! Being so familiar with the series, I did not mind the format at all - as others have said, the descriptions brought TV scenes to mind.

Absolutely Supurb

I always love watching the series but being able to listen to it is a dream. still makes me laugh.

The introduction to each episode by John Cleese is an added bonus, as is the bio to bits you need to see by Andrew Sachs, AKA Manuel.

I can't fault this. If you love the TV show you will love this.

I wish Audio Books would do more of these.
