Summary

The first shifter in the Pyte/Sentinel series:

As the top Alpha male of Boston, it's Drew's job to keep his Pack safe, keep the humans from finding about their existence, try to pretend that he was fine with the way that his life was going, and, most importantly, not give in to the urge to kill Kara, the thorn in his side for way too long.

When fate steps in one night and destroys his world, he strikes back, but his new mate is more than he can handle....

Excellent addition

I could have listened to Drew and Kara story for even longer. Great storyline, characters and plot. Interactions with previous characters add such value. So funny and sexy. Loved it!

pyte/sentinel? Or a NFH book?

Like the book. But, it isn't a pyte/sentinel book in my opinion. It reminds me too much of the neighbours from hell books ( That I liked). Nevertheless, this is supposed to be different. So far there hasn't been a pyte or sentinel in it. Shifters, yes (Not Cale) and it isn't like the other books.

So, sentinels we're in it later on ( way later) but no one we knew.
However, during the last 20 minutes of the book both pyte/sentinels were in it...including a sexy alpha werewolf with a tendency to steal chocolate. Ephraim, Chris and Cale make an appearance. In my opinion, I found this to be the most exciting part of the book. Maybe because I didn't know the other characters before their story, but I wasn't as in to it as the other ones.

Dreadful

What disappointed you about Fated?

I am normally a big fan of R L but this book is so bad that if you told me that it had been written by a 'ghost ' writter it would explain everything. The characters are not complete. Cara goes between really strong (she rips out a throat) to wet and baby like. Drew is not really likeable. The story takes ages to get going then stops. You spend chapters on vomiting and pregnancy....it moves a bit ....then yawn it happens again. The author drops bomb shells ...'in pure' and then it takes chapters of you wondering what that was about, until it was explained again. The dialogue is rehashed constantly ....rip his balls off!!! Seriously it got to the stage where listening to it put my teeth on edge with the same old phrases. For me this turned into car crash TV.....I kept listening thinking 'it must get better' but trust me ...it didn't.All in all this book is dreadful. The plot is week and poorly thought out. Some things are not explained. The characters are annoying and hard to relate to. The dialogue is lazy and rehashed which I might have forgiven if the story was better. Worst of all it is 8 hours of my life that I can never get back. The Editor who approved this needs to be sacked. R L ....I am really disappointed...either sack your ghost writter or go back to what you do best as this is not worthy of you.

What could R. L. Mathewson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Plan out the story!!!!

Would you be willing to try another one of Celestine Wolf’s performances?

Yes...the narrator I think did a reasonable job considering how dire the story was

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fated?

The entire book

Any additional comments?

Personally I think their should be more quality checks. I know when I buy some authors that the story will be weak but the romance and sex will be hot. Not this author she is normally very professional so I resent paying good money for awful.

OK I liked this book alot but I have a few issues

This book and previous one were pretty great. There were a few sections where I laughed out loud at the banter between the H and h. There are 2 reasons I didnt give this book more stars. First, at this point I've had enough with all the little tiny bits of info on Jill's story but still making us wait. This book had not one update on Jill which makes me feel cheated especially since we don't know when her story is coming out. Second, I am getting fed up with the way this author portrays the females when they get pregnant. It's not funny and in this story it's like Kara lost all her brain cells and personality the minute she was pregnant. It's just sad at this point, I just wish she would respect her heroines

Ugh, the main characters

Let me start by saying I love this series and RL can create some really complex, wonderful characters. But I really didn’t like the main characters in this book. The story was really good, but the characters were so annoying. Like Bella from Twilight annoying. I ended up liking the male main character by the end and I thought his character arc was really intriguing, but I really wanted more details. These characters weren’t as developed as previous books, which my favorite part of this series. Also, all of the books ending with pregnancy or a baby/babies is overdone .

Mixing with the Enemy

This one is shorter than the other stories, so you're left with wanting more. And since I'm not really a fan of shifter romances, I was delighted to conclude that Drew is such a great character. I found myself liking him more so than the pain in the ass (PITA) heroine. Later on we find out why Kara is the way she is: survival. The weak are weeded out, while the strong get left alone. The world of the shifters is harsh and unforgiving. It's unfair and prejudicial, archaic and without remorse. But the love between the two fated mates transcends all of that. It reunites them with our beloved Sentinel/Pyte gang. Once again, we find out how far one would be willing to go in order to protect his mate, even if it means giving it all up to side with the enemy.

Great shifter addition to the series.

Mathewson is really creative with the series storyline. Each book is fresh while folding in the awesome previous characters. I really hope Mathewson gives Kale his own story. As for Fated, Mathewson does a great job of developing Drew and Kara.

Storyline is catchy but so much whining...

Storyline has so much potential that it is a little bit addicting wanting to know what could happen next and the characters build on you to point you look forward to their appearances in each book. But I’ll be honest I skip more material than I wish bc it is extremely repetitive sexual tension and experiences with each characters. Their stories are different and that is great but the teen worthy sexual scenes are so repetitive it is actually so aggravating I can’t stand listening to the whining of the writer. Iv come to notice a lot of these books are like this, great storyline potential but filled with immature whining and repetitive sexual scenes to fill the pages that it makes me want to scream. Iv yet find a writer who can hold me for a whole book without skipping so much content.

great stories, author needs a thesaurus

I really enjoyed the story lines, but, for the love of beer and hotwings, woman...BUY A THESAURUS!!! Or maybe invest in a content editor who can inform you that the English language contains insults beyond "bastard." If I turned these stories into a drinking game wherein a shot must be taken every time that word was used, we'd be dead by the end of the first chapter of the first book.
