For fans of Michael Connelly and Lisa Gardner comes a pulse-pounding thriller that rips back the curtain on a cult's darkest secrets.
K-9 officer Eden Mercer thought her toughest battles were behind her. With Shadow, her fiercely loyal German Shepherd, she's trained to take on danger head-on.
Their latest mission thrusts them deep undercover inside SoulBound, an exclusive "soul mate" retreat in Ashland, Oregon, in search of a missing woman. The leaders promise enlightenment and eternal love—but behind the candlelit rituals and whispered vows lurks something far more sinister. Fasting, drugged ceremonies, and disturbing disappearances suggest the retreat hides a dark purpose. And with powerful allies shielding its leaders, the cult is nearly untouchable.
As Eden pushes deeper into the heart of the compound, she risks losing more than her cover. If she fails to expose the truth, the women trapped inside may never escape—and Eden herself could become the next sacrifice.

The narration was just not for me I got into in the end but I think it is more American which makes sense given the story so not holding back on my review because of that

While some books can be read as standalones, this one, I feel, need the context of the previous books as this focuses a lot on Eden's cult life that she left. Given that I think things with her dad could come to a head, reading some of the previous books would be good.
We see Eden and Shadow, her faithful canine partner go undercover to find a missing person who they believe is in a cult - something Eden knows all too well, sadly.
As the get into SoulBound, I worried how they would manage and get out at the end with out troubles but, as we knows with these types of stories, it's never that easy but it usually works out.
This is yet another well done book in the series and I will keep reading as long as she's writing them!
Good

This is book 8 in this series and as with all the previous books, it’s very well written with a clear plot. It’s action packed and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested. To be honest, you would think by now that Eden would want to steer clear of anything cult related but it seems she just can’t help herself. I am pleased that Eden’s personal life seems to finally to be taking off though as this has been a long time coming. Most importantly, Shadow approves.
As always, Hannah's narration is the perfect finishing touch to this audiobook.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another great instalment

When you put Eden on a case or in a situation that remotely connects to something that feels like a cult, this is usually when she shines. These storylines always make me feel very uncomfortable, and this one left me shaking my head, confused by how simple yet organised these operations often are once you get a glimpse behind the curtain.
What always gets me is how easy it seems to convince people to buy into these promises when they are desperate to find meaning in life. Looking from the outside in, these things often seem so obvious and absurd, yet they are presented in a way that makes people believe them. It never ceases to amaze me how many people fall for false promises of a better life while giving away their life savings.
Eden knew exactly what was happening, and being reminded of her past made this a very engaging and personal story that I enjoyed a lot. Another great instalment, and the audiobook was very well done and kept me engaged the whole time.
That was another great one
