Summary

An approved textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since its first publication, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an indispensable guide to the magical beasts of the wizarding world. It showcases a menagerie of magical creatures, explained enchantingly by noted magizoologist, Newt Scamander, who you may remember from the film series of the same name.

And, who better to narrate this compendium of beasts than Eddie Redmayne, Oscar-winning star of the Fantastic Beasts films. The audiobook uses thrilling soundscapes to bring the beasts off the page.

The shelves of the Hogwarts Library are also home to many more fascinating books. If you have enjoyed Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them you might want to check out some of its other treasures: Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Although this was not what I was expecting, I have found it very interesting and enjoyable - it has explained all of the " beasts" in the Harry Potter series - thank you

Fantastic Story

Great book, easily finished, good if you are a Harry Potter fan :) Many details of the book matched the information given in care of magical creatures.

Performance was great, story was short but great!

AND it's for charity so buy the book for that at least!!

Fantastic beasts and where to find them...

Well narrated by Eddie Redmayne. The footnotes are spoken at a lower volume that the remaining text, however, which can make them hard to hear.

Whilst not strictly a "story" the contents are interesting and amusing. The book is broken into small chapters using alphabet letters making it easy to listen to in short bursts if desired.

Fantastic as normal.

Enjoyed as much as I did Harry Potter, and all other of J.K.Rowling books. Eddie Redmayne excellent as narrator.

Magical audio encyclopaedia

Would you consider the audio edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to be better than the print version?

Yes - with the audiobook you get the Newt/Eddie himself narrating the book. The sound effects in this audio version really made me imagine all the beasts as if they were just there walking around in their natural habitat, as Newt explains all about them

What other book might you compare Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to, and why?

It's really unique, I cant think of another audiobook that is like this one - but its a really good companion to the Harry Potter books as it gives background information on the beasts featured in the books and films.

Have you listened to any of Eddie Redmayne’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No, but Eddie Redmayne is great - loved listening to him

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - it's quite short so you can hear all about the magical beasts in under 2 hours. As a reference you can also keep dipping back in and out

Fantastic read

Although each beast could have been elaborated on a little more, the book is instructive and also comical at times. The quality of the recordings differs noticably in many sections, with room noise and volume changing regularly but it wasn't too distracting from what otherwise is an enjoyable listen.

Thought this was the book of the film, but it is just a list and discription of the magical beasts.
