Summary

When an aristocratic old lady is brutally murdered in her country home the night before 9/11, it takes all the resources of the FBI and Interpol to work out the connection between her and the possible motive for her death: a priceless Van Gogh painting.

In the end, however, it's a young woman in the North Tower when the first plane crashed into the building that has the courage and determination to take on both sides of the law and avenge the old lady's death.

Anna Petrescu is missing and presumed dead after 9/11, and she uses her new status to escape from America - only to be pursued across the world from Toronto to London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Bucharest. But it is only when she returns to New York that the mystery unfolds.

Slow Start - But soon grips you

You can normally rely on Archer to supply you with a riveting read - and this is no exception.

Although a slow start, you are soon sent rocketing through a series of twists and turns that will keep you listening to the end (many a night parked on the drive for an extra ten minutes, just to hear what happened next!)

Gripping tale.

If I were reading a book, this is one that I would not want to put down until I read the last page. The story is brilliantly executed and shall be listening to it again.

Another Gold Start for JA....

What can you say about a book like this?.... It's gripping, sensational and a thoroughly excellent read. I have listened to this over and over and still enjoy it. Anton Lesser is magnificent as the narrator - More please!....

Another great story with intrigue and suspense,

There seems to be a similar thread running through several J.Archer books and they involve masterpieces of art. It's a great way to improve one's knowledge whilst enjoying an exciting story!

False Impression is well worth listening to.

An Entertaining Listen

Jeffrey Archer writes such an enjoyable story and has a knack of knowing what his readers want. This one is no exception. I have read most of his books and this is the first audiobook of his I have listened to. I do think Prisoner of Birth was better but that said, this is certainly worth listening to. This is well paced, well written and is a very entertaining listen.

Its Jeffrey Archer, darling

So you know what you're getting, right ? A cracking read from start to finish with enough twists and turns to almost make you insane. Well, not quite - yes, this is an excellent story but for some reason it is difficult to get into at the start. It is worth persevering though as it does pick up and ultimately delivers the goods.

I gave it four stars rather than five as it was so hard to get into at the start that I stop/started with it several times whereas Jeffrey normally engages you right off the bat.

Dreadful

Having never read a Jeffrey Archer book before I thought I start with this one as it had good reviews. I tried to get an unabridged version as I prefer them but couldnt on audible and that could have contributed to why I didnt enjoy it.
I found the story hurried and not really filled out but more than that I found it boring! If I find a book gripping I cant put my ipod down but with this story I really had to force myself to continue with it.I kept thinking there's going to be twist coming soon or more excitment but alas nothing For me it could have been written by a novice writer and I,m afraid it has put me off reading any more of Mr Archers novels
