Summary

He’s in control, not me. Yet, I’m willing to submit.
He’s claiming me. I know it and want it. In fact, I demand it.

Richard’s my best friend’s brother, and totally off limits.
He’s under the control of his family’s ambitiously demanding patriarch but longs for independence.
His own father thwarts his every move.
He needs a woman to help him overtake his father’s inheritance.
That’s where I come in…as his fake wife.
He asks me to pretend to be married to him, make it appear like we’re a loving couple.
Not a difficult ask when I catch a glimpse of his chiseled body or feel the caress of his hand on my back.
The way he looks at me is blurring the lines between real and pretend.
How far will we go to keep up appearances?
And will my heart stay intact through all of this?

This is a stand-alone. Hot and spicy. Twist and turns. Happy ending.

Hold on for this ride

Omgoodness this was a wild ride. I was shocked a couple of times in this book. I yelled at a couple of the characters a few times. I’m not sure I agree with the ending, although it is happy it’s just not what I was expecting. Overall I enjoyed this book and the narration was great. I recommend this book.

A fun romance!

I really enjoyed Fake it till You Make it. I was a little put off by the title. But ended up buying it anyway. Interesting story of a young journalist trying to make it.

Could be a good storyline but a bit dragged out.

This book has the makings of a good story but the Author doesn't quite bring it together. At the beginning I thought, yes, this is a nice little twist but as the tale unfolded it became a bit same as,

Oh, this is the kind of story that I love to audio.....starts out a little iffy, but with humor, patience, love and working together, the story came together just like it was supposed to.

A clean, fake romance

A clean fake engagement, marriage. I liked that the book was a sweet romance where both the H and h were accepting of each other’s flaws and strengths.

So many twists and turns!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This was the first time that I have listened to a story by this author, and Caleb Borne has created a powerful tale of intrigue, evil, and hope. Jas is a young woman thrust into a family filled with corruption and evil when she falls for Rich, the family member who is trying to stop the evil. Rich's father is the embodiment of evil. The author has great character development. His plot development is full of twists and turns and surprises.

Rodney Falcon is a master storyteller and a voice artist. He skillfully portrays the emotions of the characters. He puts his heart into his narrating and is a joy to listen to. Did I mention that he has a sexy voice?

I highly recommend this Audible book. You will find it hard to stop listening to it and it will keep you on the edge of your seat. In a few reviews it questioned why Jas did not tell Rich that Noah had died when she heard it on the news. But she missed the lead story so she had missed the news about his death.

Great narration, OK story

Audible. Also available via KU, can add audio with whispersync discount.

This is my first book by Caleb Borne and my first experience with Rodney Falcon as a narrator.

Richard Westerfield is the son of the former governor of Illinois and Jasmine Skye is his younger sister's best friend. Rich is trying to get out from his overbearing and criminal father's control while Jasmine is fresh out of college trying to find her way in the world. This story is a unique and intriguing mix of best friend's bother (or little sister's best friend), Cinderella, & fake-marriage tropes. Sometimes it's executed really well, other times the inconsistencies kept me from being truly invested. I had a huge issue with the prologue, a major plot inconsistency, the abrupt ending (see spoilers at the end), but overall I'd give it 3 stars.

Rodney Falcon's narration was excellent. At times, it's possible he's the reason I didn't DNF. While not a complaint about him specifically, I think that this would have been better with dual narrators. Since chapters are first person POV and there was no change in Falcon's voice when a chapter was from Jas's POV, sometimes I would get turned around thinking it was Rich's POV. To be clear, Falcon did give all the character *dialogue* unique voices/inflections/genders, but narrating the regular text was all in his normal, albeit sexy, voice. None of this would make me hesitate listening to him in the future. Solid 4 stars.

*** SPOILERS ***
- I wish the prologue had been left out. It didn't really add to the story and a 17yo purposefully standing naked & erect in front of a 12yo isn't intriguing/sexy it's actually a crime. For good reason.
- Noah's death is announced on the evening news. The text clearly states that Jas saw/heard it. Yet somehow it isn't mentioned until weeks later when other family members (who somehow missed the news) are shocked by the revelation. Jas appears to be just as surprised as everyone else. I don't know why the news broadcast was included ~ if just created a massive inconsistency that could have been eliminated by removing one sentence.
- Noah's info dump at the end was sort of abrupt and I wish the author had spent more time allowing some of it to be discovered by the characters.
- Erin taking over the company is ridiculous. Nothing in her character description or behavior at all supports this. She's only received her Bachelor's in the last few months and hasn't spent a single minute working at this multi m(b?)illion dollar company she's now going to run?
*** END SPOILER ***

Loved it until the end

This story got me and I couldn't stop listening. I kept wanting to know more. Well I was not disappoint until the end kept me confused. I didn't give this five stars because the ending seemed unclear of the story. It left me hanging and I didn't understand when Richard read " checkmate". Then the epilog just confused me even more. I felt like I was reading mystery instead of romance, although there was romance between the hero and heroin. This is my first with the narrator and the author. He did a superb job by bringing the characters to life and I will look more from him. Maybe this author too.

SO SO Impressed with this one!!

This is so much more than what I thought it would be. A suspenseful romance, dirty business, family issues and political aspirations. At first I wasn’t too impressed. Then I just realized they were setting up the story. Because really....the good stuff comes later! Don’t listen to the synopsis. That just gives a brief and I mean brief sample of what the book is about. There is so much more!!

This story impressed me! The author weaves each character and drew me along. I like multiple characters but for different reasons. Some are fun others are smart and devious and some are sexy as well. I would hate to belong to this family since I would always be checking my back.

This is a first time author for me. I enjoyed this immensely and will keep an eye out for others. I did listen to this on audio and as always Rodney Falcon nailed it!

I feel it needs a shorter name

My biggest issue was the name of the audio book as it's a mouthful and hard to recommend for this reason, With that aside I have to say I laughed and was surprised on the twist at the near end.
