Summary

USA Today and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Meagan Brandy delivers a new stand-alone fake-relationship romance about finding light when your world is dark and fighting for love when all seems lost.

Fake. That's what we are. That's what we agreed to be. So why does it feel so real?

I thought it would have been harder, convincing everyone our school's star receiver was mine and mine alone, but I was wrong. We played our parts so well that the lines between us began to blur until they disappeared completely.

The thing about pretending, though, is that someone's always better at it, and by the time I realized my mistake, there was no going back.

I fell for our lie. And then everything fell apart.

It turned out he and I were never playing the same game. He didn't have to break me to win. But he did it anyway.

This is a 98,000-word enemies-to-lovers complete stand-alone romance!

1st Meagan Brandy book, but not the last...

Loved this book, yes there were bits that seemed a little improbably (like Nico not knowing about Demi’s toxic relationship with her mum, despite living next door to her forever - he finds out because he overhears an argument in the garden, you’d assume that there would have been plenty of these over the years). However, I would listen to this book over and over, just for the way Christian Fox brings Nico’s internal ramblings to life, so funny!

Nico and Demi

I adore this story. Love the repartee between the characters. Love the way the story developed and subsequently unfolded. I began reading the Brayshaw series and branched out to the author’s other works. So glad I did. Found an amazingly talented author to follow. Can’t wait to read whatever is published next! Listening to the audible is a must. Narration is perfection. It brings the story to life and truly enhances the enjoyment. Thoroughly entertaining.

Fake It 'Til You Break It

Demi and Nico are neighbors. Their back yard connects. They are also both seniors in high school. They end up being partners in Chemistry. Demi likes another guy, and Nico has had some things in the past happen with this guy. Nico proposes for Demi to fake date him, to make the other guy fall for her.

Both Demi and Nico have some family issues that they work through during the book. I love how the characters have a chance to grow through the book. They learn to work through some of their problems and work with each other. Do they continue to fake it til one of them breaks? Or do they end up as more?

This book is told from duel point of views. I really like this reading style so you know what the both characters are thinking.

I really liked this book and would recommend it.

Nico Sykes is life

I am obsessed with Nico Sykes. From the first point we met him in the book, I knew there was something about him that was special and nothing in the chapters that followed changed that for me. Jennifer Mack did a good job getting Nico’s essence, but it wasn’t until Christian Fox took over during the first chapter from Nico’s POV that my intrigue catapulted into a full blown obsession. There is something about a man who knows what he wants and will do whatever it takes to get it (even tricking a girl into dating him) that really gets me going. I liked Demi, especially the relationship that she had with her three best friends, but Nico truly made the book for me. The emotions that were exposed at different points of the book showed his depth of character and kept me rooting for him from beginning to end.

Best Male Narrator

This book was excellent and Christian fox is the best male narrator out there!! The two leads had so much chemistry and the writing was very good in character development.

The Headaches of High School Love

This is a bitter sweet love story. It was a slow burn & left you on kind of an edge asking... What just happened? I loved the tender moment's. The pressure & Insecurities our Teens may be faced with, each DAY. I'm going to reach out to my Teen's ( niece and nephew) more than I have been. Mad props to the Author & to Narrators bringing life to the story. Thank You ~

Entertaining, YA read

Lately I have been escaping into the world of young adult listens. This story was a nice diversion from the snow storm we are suffering through. It was exactly how I would imagine high school angst to be. My only slight objection is the absentee parents. I honestly don't know any parent that is that :"hands off" when it comes to their children divorced or otherwise. I suppose that is why it's fiction. The performance by Christian Fox was stellar as per his usual. I was pleasantly surprised with Jennifer Mack, an unknown to me until this book. I also give her 5 stars. Overall I would recommend this story for anyone hoping to lose themselves in a story that holds interest and has that romance we all so love to listen to.
