I left my family and tiny Texas hometown 15 years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I'm shocked out of the steady life I've built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco. The thing is: I don't do babies. And I don't do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don't do family.

He promised to never leave me. But when I needed him the most, that was exactly what he did. Wilderness guide Xander Reed has spent fifteen years trying to forget the night he turned to his best friend in his darkest hour, only to find the young man who'd sworn to always have his back was turning his on Xander instead. Two thousand miles and fifteen years of building a new life in the quiet backcountry of the Rocky Mountains should have been enough to put the memory of Bennett Crawford out of his mind.

Face Value
This is a Continuation the Sanctuary Series, following along the same storyline but includes some newer characters who we met from book 2. This is not a standalone, and These books really need to be read/listened to in order or you will become lost.
Kayden is an enigma, Part Doctor, and Part Ninja fighter. We get to learn his backstory which is really interesting and complex. And then we have Robert/Beckett Bullen, who is the son/nephew of the bad guys of this series. We learned from the previous book he was trying to uncover information to provide the "good guys" going against his family, which throws him into hiding, and this book continues the story putting him directly into contact and under the protection of Kayden. The two become really close in a very short amount of time. But you can tell they had an instant and strong connection to each other. Just like the first two books, this one is really interesting and fast paced with a decent amount of action.
Audio - Once again Sean Crisden does a great job with this continuation of these books, and listening to this series makes me happy. He really brings every single one of these characters to life and I think his narration for Kayden and Beckett might be my favorite of the first three books. Can wait to hear the next installment.

So many words, so little character development, so much misogyny
I'm done with this series. Every negative comparison is to the way girls and chicks feel, express themselves and act. It is not necessary to denigrate females to allow big tough men to experience their feeling. Perhaps all of the fear of the feminine is a cover for failing to actually create realistic characters who grow and develop.

Great story from Scott
Face Value is another great tale by R.J. Scott and an awesome installment of the Sanctuary series.
First I want to mention that although this is the third part of a series it can be read, or listened to, as a standalone. The story connects to the first two in the series but can be fully understood without having read the others in the series.
This tale features Beckett Jamieson who learns he was born Robert Bullen and is part of a political—and criminal—family. His deceased mother leaves him clues that will help take the Bullens down. Unfortunately this gets him in trouble and puts his life in danger.
That’s when he ends up in a Sanctuary safe house being taken care of by Dr. Kayden Summers. Kayden has a habit of talking to his patients, even if their unconscious and that’s basically how their relationship starts.
I loved Kayden from the start. I thought he was hilarious and his past was interesting. It took me a little longer to connect with Beckett but by the end I loved him and enjoyed his relationship with Kayden.
This was a sweet short story with a surprise toward the end I didn’t see coming.
Narration Review:
Once more Sean Crisden did a great job with this story. He has amazing range and made each character seem special.
He’s one of the best narrators out there.

Hot Bodyguard/Doctor and Patient!!!
Would you listen to Face Value again? Why?
Yes. This book is a great combination of hot doctor/bodyguard and a patient finding each other while all around them is "CSI: Los Angeles" type chaos. So you get the 'danger factor' while you get the romance.
What other book might you compare Face Value to and why?
The first 2 books in the series, Guarding Morgan and The Only Easy Day are must reads as this is a continuing story and each book start just where the previous book ends. To fully understand what is going on you need to start with Guarding Morgan.
What does Sean Crisden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Although I love to read the books and make up the voices in my head, Sean does a much better job. His voice to the character descriptions are spot on. His voice is soothing and masculine and a great choice for a reader.
Who was the most memorable character of Face Value and why?
Kayden Summers. I enjoy the brilliant characters that have a different backstory. They are the most interesting type of character to me.
Any additional comments?
Just that you really need to start with Book 1 and continue with each book in order of the series, and then you will really enjoy these books. I have read them several times and now I am so thrilled they are in audible format for me to listen when I go for a walk or ride my bike.
