Summary

Mitch Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.

Rapp needs the best on this assignment, and Nash, who has served his government honorably for 16 years first as an officer in the Marine Corps and then as an operative in an elite counterterrorism team run by Rapp is his choice. Together, they have made careers out of meeting violence with extreme violence and have never wavered in the fight against the jihadists and their culture of death. Both have fought the war on terrorism in secret without accolades or acknowledgment of their personal sacrifices. Both have been forced to lie to virtually every single person they care about, and both have soldiered on with the knowledge that their hard work and lethal tactics have saved thousands of lives.

But the political winds have changed in America, and certain leaders on Capitol Hill are pushing to have men like Rapp and Nash put back on a short leash. And then one spring afternoon in Washington, DC, everything changes.

Using his insider knowledge of intelligence agencies and the military, Flynn once again delivers an all-too-real portrayal of a war that is that is waged every day by a handful of brave, devoted souls. Smart, fast-paced, and jaw-droppingly realistic, Extreme Measures is the political thriller of our time.

Vince Flyn's stories keep you transfixed

Another very powerful story about how Mitch Rapp and his team keep just ahead of the terrorists. Mitch also has to clear his name when politicians try to expose him for not working strictly within the law. Mitch Rapp walks a tight rope between the politicians who want to bring him down and the terrorists who despise Americans and strive towards mass murder. I can't praise these books enough. There are people who keep us safe from terrorists and their bravery needs to be recognised.

Slips down like a vanilla milkshake

Narration is excellent. The plot trots along at a good pace and it is does exactly what you would expect, maverick CIA, Middle Eastern terrorism, the moral question of torture, sage old boys veterans of politics and war.
My only reservation is the home life oh please stay away from that domestic arguments a wife who is on one hand the legal brain of Socrates and Perry Mason and is a complete emotional bitch. Sorry just making her work and brainy is still a nagging emotionally bankrupt woman.

Would you listen to Extreme Measures again? Why?

yes

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rapp naturally but Nash is sounding good

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nash, despite his hard job makes a great and funny dad

Any additional comments?

Language a bit on the strong and over used side, which is a shame, but the story is great

Not one of Vince Flynn's best.

I am a massive Vince Flynn(RIP) fan. But this book, unfortunately, wasn't that good. I found it a bit too drawn out. It seemed to me, like a lot of this book was just filler, with no real reason for it being there. If this is your first Vince Flynn book, and your don't like it, don't let it put you off, because most of his books are fantastic. I find George Guidall to be an excellent narrator, especially for the character of Mitch Rapp.
