A dead man walks into a police station. He tells a tale - bizarre as it is grotesque - of kidnap and organ harvesting. John Baden's story of being held prisoner for 12 years sounds far-fetched - but it's all about to get much, much stranger. DI Ben Westphall has been given the case because of his background in MI6. He also has a knack for getting inside people's heads and seeing things others would miss. Westphall is no ordinary detective, and this is no ordinary case.

Summary
Best selling novelist Joe Logan walks out into a hot summer's evening in central London. The next day his body is found dumped in a disused Victorian crypt at the Brompton Cemetery. He has been tied up, shot and castrated. The killing has the hallmarks of a professional hit.
Detective Inspector Mark Tartaglia has a number of leads to follow, but he's getting nowhere. Then another body is found, in an old boathouse on the Thames, killed in an identical fashion to Logan. Both men were savagely tortured before they died - a vicious and methodical killer is at work. But what does he want and how does he lure his victims to their death? If Tartaglia can find the link between the two dead men maybe he can stop the killer.

Really good!
I wasn't sure how good this would be, but I really enjoyed it. The story is well-plotted and gripping and Ric Jerrom did a good job of the narration as always. And how nice to have a straightforward leading detective without drink or marriage problems or other 'quirks'!

Gripping!
This is a really good listen. Keeps you guessing until the end. The reason I've only awarded 4 stars is because I felt there were too many characters, which I find more tricky when listening to a book.
Glad I've discovered this series.
