Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Daniel Sloss' stand-up comedy engages, enrages, offends, unsettles, educates, comforts and gets audiences roaring with laughter - all at the same time. In his groundbreaking specials, seen on Netflix and HBO, he has brilliantly tackled everything from male toxicity and friendship to love, romance and marriage - and claims (with the data to back it up) that his on-stage laser-like dissection of relationships has single-handedly caused more than 300 divorces and 120,000 breakups.

Now, in his first book, he picks up where his specials left off, and goes after every conceivable kind of relationship - with one's country (Sloss' is Scotland); with America; with lovers, ex-lovers, ex-lovers who you hate, ex-lovers who hate you; with parents; with best friends (male and female), not-best friends; with children; with siblings; and even with the global pandemic and our own mortality. In Everyone You Hate Is Going to Die, every human connection gets the brutally funny (and unfailingly incisive) Sloss treatment as he illuminates the ways in which all of our relationships are fragile and ridiculous and awful - but also valuable and meaningful and important.

If you like Sloss, you're gonna like this book

Sloss has a specific style of comedy which may not be appealing for everybody, however, if you ever saw him performing and liked it, this is a book for you. At moments it's so funny that it makes you chuckle, and some bits are so poignant that it makes you cry while in public transport and people look at you as if you were mad.
It is narrated by the author, and I wouldn't have it any other way, loved the bits where he fights the editor and his remarks.
I loved it, but then again, I'm not English nor American.

its interesting, funny and at points brutal but worth while hearing.

I think listening to the book would be better than reading as its so clearly written in his voice.

Excellent, thought provoking profanity.

If your familiar with Sloss' comedy there won't be anything in here that comes as a shock to you. If you aren't, then buckle up and don't listen in front of the kids.

If you're in a relationship and not the happiest, and entertaining guilty thoughts of "what would it be like if I was single?" then give this a listen before making any decisions. It won't talk you into staying, but it will help you rationalize those feelings into something you don't need to beat yourself up over.

Pure unadulterated awesomeness

This had me laughing myself silly from beginning to end!
A lot of serious points about life (and death) told by one of the funniest comedians ever to come out of Scotland, so they end up funny anyway.
I’m so glad I got the Audible version, since I got to hear Daniel read the whole thing, like a very sweary bedtime story… that takes 6+ hours…
Poignant at times, but ultimately this book left me with aching facial muscles from pure joyful laughter.
If you like your comedy irreverent, with the sexiest accent in the world (yes, I’m Scottish, too… what?!) then this is the book for you.

You need to read this book…. Even if you think you don’t need to… that’s a sign you probably should!
