Summary
George Mahood had a nice, easy, comfortable life. He had a job, a house, a wife, and kids. But something was missing. He was stuck in a routine of working, changing nappies, and cleaning up cat sick. He felt like he was missing out on a lot of what the world had to offer. He then discovered that it was Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. The day after that was National Curmudgeon Day, and the day after that was Inane Answering Machine Message Day.
In fact, the calendar is full of these quirky, weird, and wonderful events. He realized that somebody somewhere had created these holidays, believing that they were important enough to warrant their own official day. Surely he should therefore be more appreciative of their existence? So he decided to try and celebrate them all. As you do. He hoped that at the end of the challenge he would be transformed into a happier, more intelligent and more content person.
Follow George on his hilarious, life-changing adventure as he tries to balance his normal life with a wealth of new experiences, people, facts, and ridiculous situations. It's a rip-roaring, life-affirming, roller coaster of a ride, where every day is a holiday.

Very Enjoyable & Funny
I have enjoyed this lighthearted book. Gorge has a great sense of humour and managed to write an enjoyable book about an everyday life. I will check some of his other books!

Finding adventure in the mundane
Great listen for life when it is trickier to go away to have adventures. This book has shown how you can create fun and adventure in day to day life at home. I'd really recommend George's other books too!

it's opened up my eyes to how we/the world can always find something to celebrate. Well-done George and your supportive family :)

I don't read a lot of non fiction but..
Great read (or in my case listen) totally got into the journey through the holidays. Unfortunately I read it in Sept so none of the holidays were now but there are a few to try for next year. We'll done completing the challenge

I was looking for something that would take me away from reality and this popped up. An unusual and wonderful read. Thanks GM!

Something for every day...
Having read the original book, it was interesting to get a different experience by listening to the audio version, albeit not with George's own voice
The fact that it is audio increases the circumstances in which it can be read - streamed to the car audio, for example, or as in my case, also whilst out walking the dog
It is the sort of book which, because it is effectively a daily diary, can be picked up at any point to see what ridiculous events have been selected for that day's enjoyment. Or you can take it day by day and read just the events for that day and go out and celebrate them (or not!) - there are certainly some ridiculous ones included!
James does a great job at bringing to life George's sometimes desperate attempts to re-enact the day's celebrations, sometimes involving his own poor family who by now should know better than to listen to a word he says in the knowledge that disaster inevitably looms, even introducing one of his own once he realises that there is nothing "official" about these official events and anyone can make one up...

Great everyday book
Loved the book. Its a great every day book about life ik Britain, with spices. I have never thought about the celebratory days and i probably wont in the future either. But the humour and family life/remarks make the book a great listen anyway.

Another witty and joyful book from George
Would you consider the audio edition of Every Day Is a Holiday to be better than the print version?
I have to say no. I loved the book, but having read a few of Georges other books beforehand it was difficult to get used to the voice reading the book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Every Day Is a Holiday?
the most memorable moments in the book are when George tells Rachel what the holiday it is on that particular day. I laugh at almost all of them, George is so enthusiastic about each one and I get the impression that a lot of the time Rachel cant actually believe that he is going ahead with them. Sometimes she wants to kill him other times she cant help but laugh.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was a little children's theater which may well be the style with audio books, this was my first one. When reading Georges kids parts it reminded me of watching kids tv when i was growing up.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The snow day, brought back good memories of growing up.
Any additional comments?
I have now read 4 of George's books, i loved them all. They make you laugh and they are very easy to relate to. Operation Ironman even inspired me to complete a half Ironman after reading it. Looking forward to reading the most recent release
